Teclast has been identified for making some fairly good low-cost Android Tablets. The X98 Plus II is one of their latest choices, and it takes quite a lot of value to the table for less than $150. Study more in our full review.
The Teclast X98 Plus II is a revised version of the original Teclast X98 Plus tablet. It has a slightly new design including the ports relocated to the top of the tablet and minor revisions. This device is a dual OS tablet working Windows 10 and Android 5.1. It comes to a 9.7″ LG IGZO 2048 x 1536 screen, which is similar panel used in the iPad Air and Air 2. Talking of the display, we have a 2048×1536 IPS LCD panel, which is sharp and has a respectable color reproduction. It’s controlled by a quad-core Atom X5 Z8300 with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB eMMC. The most major selling point of this device is that it dual-boots both Android Lollipop 5.1.1 and Windows 10.
The tablet ships including a charging brick, which has the ability output of 2.5A, some paperwork and USB OTG cable. Along with the regular micro USB cable, Teclast included a proprietary cable for quick charging.
Design and Display
The Teclast tablet comes with a 9.7” display, which makes the tablet just like the iPad Air regarding the size. Talking of the display, we have a 2048×1536 IPS LCD panel, which is sharp and has a decent color reproduction. When you use the tablet outdoors. The tablet sports a metal backplate, which provides a little bit of a premium look and feels. On the top, all the ports include a headset jack, HDMI, DC power input and micro USB ports, and the microSD card slot. So far as the camera, we only have a 2MP shooter. The loudspeakers remain on the back, and I was not blown away be the standard of sound as it lacks depth and stability. On the other hand, most of the low-cost tablets have mediocre sounding speakers.
Let’s start with internals. The X98 Plus II comes with an Intel Cherry Trail Z8300 quad-core 1.4GHz processor. The processor is created to be a power efficient chip used particularly in tablets so that it won’t put out too much burn and heat via your battery too quickly. The chip in this particular tablet is clocked at the low end of its abilities, and you should assume performance somewhere in the range of a Snapdragon 801 processor.
32GB (25GB usable) of storage and 2GB of RAM normally come in the tablet, which appears to be about the base requirements today for clean performance. Luckily the re’s also a microSD card slot for expandable storage (as much as 128GB). However the Teclast X98 Plus II would not read my Samsung 256GB micro SD card, however, had no problems with my SanDisk 32GB card.back to menu ↑

I used the tablet as an essentially a media consumption device. I was able to stream YouTube at 720p60fps with ease. When I bumped it as much as 1080p30fps is when I noticed some issues. After each video, YouTube would reload as if it was knocked out of memory whereas viewing the video. This can be irritating when you’re going via your subscription listing watching multiple movies, however, otherwise, it was a fairly good experience.back to menu ↑
A premier tablet this isn’t. What the Teclast X98 Plus II can give you is some good performance for the price when you’re willing to make some settlements. We’ve seen the budget phone available in market explode with low cost, good options, and this tablet reminds me of that. It’s not good, and you’re going to be missing some features of higher end tablets. However, this can do a lot of the basics.
Reading and Watching on my phone is nice for sitting in the passenger seat or a waiting room. However, I do want something a little more substantial when I’m at home on the couch. When you don’t expect top tier performance whereas looking for something affordable, you could be quite joyful along with your purchase.back to menu ↑
