Xiaomi Mi4c- Introduction
When you hear a chipset like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808, you’ll obviously believe that a smartphone have an expensive price tag can just feature such a chip. However, Xiaomi Mi4c is a great example of how consumers who don’t want to waste too much money on a powerful handset can also become a proud owner of a device running a Snapdragon 808, along with other impressive features.
The Xiaomi Mi4c is available in many color options, including black, white, blue, yellow, and pink. It ships with a USB Type-C charging cable.
Xiaomi Mi4c- Design
The device has a full plastic casing and non-removable back cover. This means that you can’t replace the battery which can be problematic in a year or two depending on usage. The best features a microphone connector and infrared port and the bottom the USB Type-C port. You find the dual sim slot on the left side of the device, and the volume and power buttons on the right side.
On the top, we’ve got a 5MP camera, the usual set of sensors, earpiece, and a highly customizable LED light. On the bottom, there are 3 capacitive keys with a nice backlight.
Xiaomi Mi4c- Display
The phone comes with a 5-inch display, which is a pleasure to look at despite a bit oversaturated colors. It’s sharp and vivid, it has great viewing angles and contrast. The Xiaomi Mi4c features a full HD display with a pixel density of 441 Ppl. The quality of the display is excellent, especially so if you consider that this isn’t a flagship phone but a mid-price phone. Colors and viewing angles are great, and it works beautifully outdoors as well. The touch display is very sensitive and there is nothing bad to say about it or the display.
Xiaomi Mi4c- Camera
The Mi4c main camera shoots at 13 MP and the front-facing camera shoots at 5 MP. That’s not bad for a cheap phone. The 13MP camera on the back can produce some really good looking daylight images as they look sharp, have plenty of details, contrast, colors and even dynamic range are usually handled well. A 5MP selfie snapper does a great job for social media needs, but you have to have good lighting conditions.
Xiaomi Mi4c- Software
The Mi4c software is Xiaomi’s own MIUI 7 interface running on latest of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It’s important to note, however, that the Google Play Store and suite of standard Google apps isn’t pre-installed on this phone. MIUI may not be the best-looking manufacturer skin around, but it’s not the worst either. Xiaomi puts theming front and center, so you can switch the look of things very easily. If you do not like the way MIUI is set up you can quickly and easily substitute it for an alternative launcher such as the Google Now Launcher to get a more simple Android experience on your Mi4c.

Xiaomi Mi4c- Battery
The Xiaomi Mi4c features a non-removable 3,080mAh battery and we decided to take it for a test run to understand how it fares in our battery test. The 3080mAh non-removable battery is okay, but there’s nothing to be impressed about, but I presume this is due to an early software build of this device. I could get just up to 4 of screen-on time and the phone could easily get me through the day when using 2 SIM card slots at once, having a Wifi and 4G always on, checking social media and so on.
The Mi4c is also the first USB Type-C device to support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 standard, providing faster charging speeds than the OnePlus 2 for example.
Xiaomi Mi4c- Performance
Xiaomi Mi4c performance is staggering. It consistently posts mid-50K results in AnTuTu and gives solid results in Geekbench as well. The Xiaomi Mi4c specifications include the Snapdragon 808 CPU, the processor of choice in 2015 for all those manufacturers trying to avoid the issues of the Snapdragon 810.
The two versions of the Mi4c (16 GB and 32 GB) offer different amounts of RAM. The smaller capacity phone offers 2 GB and the larger storage option provides 3 GB. Considering the minor price difference (around US$30 ), you may as well opt for more storage and RAM.
