Google announced the worldwide availability of its much-awaited Veo 3 video generation model, allowing creators in 71 new countries access to cutting-edge AI-generated filmmaking.
This major release, which first launched at Google I/O 2025, is a huge leap towards democratising video creatives.
Veo 3, hailed for its capability to create high-quality videos from plain-text, AI generated prompts, complete with audio: including dialogue, sound effects and music, is now available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in countries ranging from Argentina and Australia to Japan and South Africa.
The company also said European Union countries – as well as the UK and India – are not included in the initial rollout, but Google says it is working to ensure that they have access as soon as possible.
Josh Woodward, Vice President at Google Labs and Gemini, confirmed the expansion on social media, stressing the model’s sophisticated features and the impact it could have on the landscape of content creation.
Veo 3’s talent for understanding and bringing to life complex requests with realism in the visuals and matching audio has already been noticed by the industry and you may have already seen some demo videos go viral from content creators blown away by the quality of the output.
But access to Veo 3 depends on subscription tier. All Google AI Pro subscribers will be offered a 10 time trial of video generation on the Gemini web platform only (mobile app extension in the near future). Google AI Ultra subscribers at $249.99/month will get access to Veo 3 on the Gemini app and web, higher usage limits, and daily refreshes.
In addition to Veo 3, Google also released Flow, an AI-infused mobile filmic software. Pro users receive 10 video generations per month within Flow, while Ultra users will be entitled to 125 monthly generations.
As Veo 3’s global roll out paves the way for enabling creators and reducing the threshold for video production, it also comes with key ethical considerations, particularly in relation to deepfakes and potential misuse.
Google has also announced that will do its part to ensure it develops AI responsibly and has put watermarking and metadata tagging in place to apply to content created using Veo 3.
The pace of progress in AI video generation, which can be seen already with Veo 3, marks a paradigm shift in media.
As the possibilities of VR technology evolve, the medium is anticipated have a transformative effect on entertainment, education, marketing and a variety of industries, providing new opportunities for creative expression which will also require thoughtful examination on its societal impact.
