Pokémon Pokopia’s first paid expansion, Bubbly Basin, launches August 5 on Nintendo Switch 2, adding an underwater region, the Dive mechanic, and aquatic construction options to the system-selling exclusive that debuted in March.
The DLC introduces a submerged area bearing resemblance to the ruins of Cerulean City. Players access it through Dive, a new movement ability that Nintendo will distribute as a free update to all owners. This allows underwater exploration across previously released environments even without purchasing the expansion.
Underwater Building and New Content
Bubbly Basin focuses on creating habitats for water-type Pokémon. The aquatic setting enables construction techniques impossible on land, specifically through buoyant blocks that float and support three-dimensional builds. The expansion adds seafloor-themed furniture and decorative items, a new watermelon crop, and a fresh Dream Island stocked with resources tailored to the underwater biome.
Developers have indicated the area contains secrets, teasing “a deep, dark hole” hidden within the zone.
Expansion Pass Pricing
The DLC is exclusive to the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, which costs $35 and includes all three planned major content drops. It is not available for individual purchase. Pass holders receive bonus recipes and 30 rare Pokémetal ingots as additional incentives.
When combined with the base game, the total cost comes to approximately $105.
