The Best Instagram Threads App Tricks and Tips
Facebook recently released Instagram Threads – the camera first buddy app where close friends can send photos, videos, chats and share status. Basically Snapchat, but Instagram version. Close Friends on Instagram was launched as a way to share more personal content with a group of people of your choice. The idea behind Threads is that your close friends can see what you are. up to and to provide a space where random people cannot slip into their DMs.
Since its launch, Instagram has become the largest photo-sharing social media service on the planet. One of the biggest reasons for Instagram’s success relative to competitors is that it was so easy to use. However, as always with any service, to stay ahead of its competition, Instagram had to add new ones features, which have made the service a bit complicated over the years.
Post Instagram photos directly to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and more
If you are someone who is posting the same image to Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook or any other social media site, instead of posting photos on each site individually, you can define up your Instagram in such a way that whenever you post a photo to Instagram, that image will automatically be posted to all of your other social media accounts.
To do this, all you need to do is go to Profile -> Options -> Linked Accounts and link your social media accounts. Next time, whenever you post a photo to Instagram, you can select the social media platforms you want to share that photo on, as shown in the image below.
Add unique fonts to your Instagram biography
Keeping an up-to-date Instagram biography is key to making your profile stand out. Of course, you can always add things like emojis, links to your working examples, etc. to give people a little more information about you. But did you know that you can use some unique and interesting fonts to make your profile prettier?
The easiest way to do this is by using websites that customize the texts for you. See How to do this –
Disable Activity Status for Direct Messages
Some time ago Instagram added a new activity status feature which allows users to see when you were last online within Direct Messaging or Instagram DM. THE feature is very similar to the last WhatsApp visa feature and lets users see when you were last online.
However if you are like me and hate it featureluckily there is a way to turn it off. All you need is to go to Profile -> Options -> Show Activity Status and disable it. However, remember that, just like WhatsApp, it is a two-way street. If you don’t want other people to see your activity status and you disable this option, you won’t be able to see anyone’s activity status either.
Schedule Posts
this particular feature is only available for business profiles, but you can easily change your personal profile to a business profile with just a few steps. You can do this by going to the options page on Instagram and tapping the “Switch to business account” option. Here, you will be asked to connect your Facebook page and once you do that you will have successfully switched to a business account and get features like analytics, promotion and more.
After switching to a business account, you can use an Instagram scheduling tool like Hootsuite to schedule your posts. Hootsuite is one of the most popular social media platforms out there and makes managing your Instagram business profile very simple. The options are pretty straightforward when it comes to using tools like Hootsuite, and on the free plan you’ll have the ability to add up for 3 social media accounts and programming up for 30 posts at a time.
History Highlights and History Archives
We all know that Instagram stories by design are ephemeral in nature. However, in December 2017, Instagram introduced a new feature which automatically archives all your stories after they expire. To access all your archived stories, just tap the profile button and tap File button present at the top of the page (marked in the image). Here you can access all your expired stories which you can view or share as a new story if you wish.
With Story Archives, Instagram also introduced a new Story Highlights feature which allows the user to share their most important stories on their profile page. To create a story highlight, visit the profile page and tap New story highlight button. Here, you will have the option to select Stories from your Story Archives, which you can share on your profile. Remember that story highlights are not removed after 24 hours and you will have to remove them manually.
Hide User Stories
a cool feature What Instagram has introduced to Instagram stories is the ability to hide them from certain users. If there are users following you but you don’t want them to see your stories, you can do this by opening your profile and then recording in the three-dot menu and selecting the “Hide your story” option.
Create a collection of your favorite posts
As you may or may not know, Instagram already allows you to save or tag your favorite posts. But did you know that you can create a collection of these posts? Yes, see How to do this –
Saving Instagram Stories
If you’ve been using Instagram for a while, you know that the service doesn’t allow you to save Stories or even take screenshots without notifying the user. However, there is a workaround you can use to easily save Instagram stories. To do this on your Android device, first download Story Saver for Instagram and then login with your account. Now the app will show all the Stories that are present in your profile and you can tap on anyone to download them.
For iOS devices, the process is a little different. First, you will need to download the Story Reposter app from iTunes. The app allows you to search users by Instagram username and download any stories that are active on their profile.
Rainbow Text for Instagram Stories
Instagram Stories feature became very useful and interesting features over the past two years, and one of them is writing rainbow texts in Instagram stories. It’s refreshing to look at boring single-color text, as all colors show up in a different tone. See How to do this –
Instagram also allows users to share links within their stories, which is useful if you’re promoting any product or service. That said, this feature it is only available to verified business users at this time. If you are one, you can add the link by tapping on it. button after recording your story.
Manage multiple accounts on Instagram
Instagram also makes it very easy to manage multiple accounts. This is extremely important for users like me who have different work and personal accounts. To add accounts, tap your name in the top left section of your profile tab, then tap “Add account” button. This is also the location you’ll use to switch between multiple accounts.
Enable post notifications for specific users
This is really useful feature if you ever want to lose posts from certain specific users. By enabling post notifications for specific users, whenever they post you will receive a notification in your app. To do this, simply visit a user’s profile and tap the three-dot menu. Here, select the option “Enable post-notification” and that’s it.
deselect yourself from the photos
Social media has many ways to embarrass us and one of the biggest tools in their arsenal is the tagged photo feature. Your friends can tag you in embarrassing photos that you might not want anyone else to see. That’s why it’s best to deselect yourself from these photos. However, unchecking may be harder than you think. To untag yourself, you will first have to open your profile page and then tap Your photos button.
Now tap the photo you want to deselect yourself from and tap again to reveal your username. Now tap on the username and you will have the option to deselect yourself. Here, all you need to do is select the “Remove label” option and you will be unmarked for the image.
restricted use Feature
If I have to give you a tip on how to maintain your mental health while using Instagram, so it would be to take advantage of the new Restrict feature. The company brought this feature to contain bullying and harassment from not-so-close friends, acquaintances and strangers. As long as you can use the block feature to silence a stranger, it is difficult for an individual to block out someone they know, such as friends and acquaintances.
So with Restrict feature, you can simply choose not to listen to your attackers. They can comment on your posts, send messages, tag you in photos, but none of that will go into your notification log. You will not be alerted for any activity and will be kept hidden from your timeline, stories, basically everywhere on Instagram. to use this feature, just open the profile you want to restrict and tap the 3-point menu in the upper right corner. Here, tap “Restrict” and you’re done.
While you can share your Instagram posts to Facebook just by linking your account, recently Instagram introduced story sharing which allows you to share your Instagram story as a Facebook story. This will make things much easier for users who need to post twice on both platforms. To find the dedicated settings, swipe right and go to the History page. Here, tap the sprocket icon in the upper left corner and scroll down to the bottom. Here, enable the switch to “Share your story to Facebook”. That’s it.
While Instagram has the option to share posts as stories, now the company has also added the option to share stories as posts. But the tricky part is that you won’t find this option in the highlights section. To share stories as a post, go to the Profile page and tap the hamburger menu in the upper-right corner. Here, open “File” and select your story. Now tap the 3-dot menu in the lower right corner and finally select “Share as Post”. This is how you share your stories as posts.
