We love playing the best Mech Games on PS5 that incorporate robots and mechanised armour. I’ve been playing mech games for years and have a few favourites. The majority of the best mech games take place in the sci-fi genre and in the future. Robot or mech games are not new, but they have been around since the dawn of gaming. Mech games don’t always seem to get a fair treatment in the gaming community. They’re frequently criticised for being too niche and too sluggish, yet this is a fairly limited view of the genre.
There’s nothing quite like stomping around in a 30-story robot of doom, but they aren’t the only kinds of mech games available. There have been a variety of amazing mech games over the years to suit a wide range of genres. The level of inventiveness in mech games should not be underestimated. These titles have something for everyone, whether you like a fast-paced action game, a turn-based tactical RPG, or a more deliberate, hefty shooter.
Best Mech Games on PS5
Relayer
Relayer is one of Kadokawa Games’ most ambitious projects. Relayer, like Super Robot Wars, is a turn-based strategy role-playing game. The game focuses on stories while delving into character interactions and building on occasion. Relayer’s tactical gameplay is highly strong, with positional attacks available to specific classes, plenty of skills, fantastic finishers, and simple and difficult missions.
It offers a robust customization mechanism that allows you to shape each character and mecha to your liking. That means you can win the majority of your victories in the preparation menu before engaging in combat. Each mecha/character combination begins as one of four classes, but can progress into four advanced classes with distinct functions.
Iron Harvest
Deep Silver first published Iron Harvest on PC in 2020, followed by the next-generation console in 2021. The PS5 edition includes every campaign and expansion previously released over the last year. The plot revolves around a young girl named Anna Kos who leads a band of fighters to save her father from the evils of the Rusivet army.
You take command of forces from three imaginary nations: Rusviet, Polonia Republic, and Saxony Empire. Iron Harvest takes place in an alternate history around the year 1920. Iron Harvest is one of the best mech games available on PS5 based only on its setting. Each European country has its own campaign with several missions for you to complete.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries
We’ve already discussed MechWarrior 5: 31st Century Combat and how it influenced the evolution of mech games. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, on the other hand, should not be disregarded. Despite the title, this is a standalone expansion to MechWarrior 5: 31st Century Combat. Activision created the game after the popularity of MechWarrior 5: 31st Century Combat.
If you want to travel back in time, this 1996 game is all you need to play. In the game, you would command the Inner Sphere Mercenary Squad, a troop of mechs. You would lead them into battle and have the option of selecting any of the tasks. You will also examine the robots’ finances and advancements. This is an old-school game that is well worth playing.
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3 is the zenith of the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam sub-series in terms of fast-paced action. It blends Dynasty Warriors’ mindless action warfare with Gundam’s plot and environment. And, of course, there are the massive and stylish mechs, as well as their legendary weapons and pilots.
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3 is an excellent game for Gundam enthusiasts, but it’s also an excellent example of a high-octane mech game. This is the quickest game in the series, as you mow down waves of adversaries with plenty of new moves and weaponry and a variety of mission kinds.
Gundam Breaker 3
Is Gundam Breaker 3 considered a mech game? The primary premise of the Gundam Breaker series is that it is about toys based on Gundam mechs rather than genuine Gundam mechs. Whatever side of the debate you take, Gundam Breaker 3 is a fantastic game. Gundam Breaker 3 is the concluding game in the main Gundam Breaker series.
It is an action game with visual novel features. It’s a moving coming-of-age story about kids growing up and competing in a Gundam tournament and a self-reflection on the franchise as a whole. You take charge of a model that you built yourself, unlocking new pieces as you progress through missions.
Armored Core: For Answer
In the same era, Armored Core was the polar opposite of Front Mission. Whereas that series was a methodical tactical RPG, Armored Core was a third-person shooter with a lot of explosions. This series was FromSoftware’s bread and butter before they were known as the Dark Souls factory, and it’s easy to see why. And, as with Front Mission, the issue of which game is the best will provide a variety of replies.
For some, this is Armored Core: Answer was Hidetaka Miyazaki’s second game as director, following Demon Souls. In many aspects, For Answer is similar to Vanquish or something Platinum Games might release in that it is all about fast going through linear stages and blasting everything in your path.
Titanfall 2
Given how infrequently mechs appear in Titanfall 2, it’s difficult to call the game a mech game. But that’s part of what makes it so appealing. As a regular player, you spend the majority of the game on foot, so eventually getting your hands on a mech after an epic kill streak feels like a tremendous reward. Fighting a player-controlled mech when you don’t have your own is also a lot of fun.
Communicating with your colleagues to bring down a massive machine of death is a rewarding experience that you don’t get to have in many mech games because you’re usually piloting a robot yourself. Furthermore, the tale has a lot going for it and features one of the most memorable mechs in the genre.
MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat
MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat forever altered the landscape of mech games. It is still the series’ best. This was one of the first robot-building games available for PC. When the Xbox Live service first became available in 2002, this was one of the greatest games for playing online multiplayer games. The game was published prior to Halo. So you already know how much of an influence it has on multiplayer gaming.
The game had the feel of a simulator. Many people like the game because it gave the impression that you were operating a machine. And this was completely novel in the gaming industry. MechWarrior 1 was only the game’s ground layout. MechWarrior 2’s development began so early that Activision created the game for MS-DOS, although it was later transferred to Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh, Sega Saturn, and Sony Playstation.
Final Words
This is a comprehensive list of the best Mech Games on PS5. Mech games are defined using the genre definition: Mech games allow the user to operate one or more mecha, or walking battle suits. Typically, these games have customisation options for changing the weapon loadout and mech configuration. But our selection of games is still my favourite, and I’d like to play them from time to time.
