With the best Steam Deck accessories, you can take your portable gaming to the next level. Valve’s Steam Deck is a pretty good handheld game console on its own, and it lets you play a huge number of games as soon as you take it out of the box. But you can also invest in some useful accessories to level up your experience.
For example, you can buy a Steam Deck dock to connect it to a gaming monitor, or if you prefer console games, you can get a compatible controller. In addition to improving your gaming experience, you can buy a few Steam Deck accessories that will protect the console when you’re out and about or extend your gaming session by charging its battery.
Best Steam Deck Accessories
SanDisk Extreme Pro MicroSD Card
Specification
Computer Memory Size | 128 GB |
Flash Memory Type | SDXC |
Secure Digital Association Speed Class | Class 10 |
Item Weight | 0.20 ounces |
If you play a lot of open-world games with a lot of graphics, like Elder Scrolls, God of War, or The Witcher, set up extra storage as soon as you get a Steam Deck to save yourself the trouble of moving data around in the middle of a game. The device’s SSD storage is used up faster than you might think.
And while you can replace its SSD with one that has more storage space, you’ll find it much easier to use a UHS-I microSD card like the SanDisk Extreme Pro. SanDisk Extreme Pro cards range from 32GB to 1TB, so even the largest 512GB Steam Deck can get 200% more storage.
Pros
- Large Capacity
- Robust memory
- Fast read write speeds
Cons
- Not quite fast enough for latest action cameras and drones
Anker 747 Power Bank
Specification
Product Dimensions | 7.22 x 3.24 x 0.94 inches |
Item Weight | 1.3 pounds |
Batteries | 1 Lithium Ion batteries required. (included) |
Manufacturer | Anker |
The Steam Deck’s battery life is notoriously bad when it’s running SteamOS, and it’s even worse when it’s running Windows. There’s nothing worse than getting to the end of a platformer level and having to find a plug. You don’t want to run out of power before you can hit on Sebastian at the carpenter’s shop.
Our favourite power bank is the powerful Anker 747, which has a 25,600mAh capacity and can charge your handheld devices more than once. It can also charge a USB-C laptop. This means that this battery can easily power the power-hungry Steam Deck, and with a max output of 87W, it will fill up quickly.
Pros
- Huge battery
- Speedy charging
- Reasonable price
Cons
- Not the lightest
SABRENT 6-Port Docking Station
Specification
Product Dimensions | 4.84 x 3.07 x 1.17 inches |
Item Weight | 5.2 ounces |
Manufacturer | SABRENT |
Country of Origin | China |
The 6-Port Docking Station from Sabrent doesn’t feel like a cheap piece of equipment. Still, here it is, rolling onto the Steam Deck accessories scene for a low price of $30. That’s a lot cheaper than any Steam Deck Dock I’ve tried, and even though there aren’t many options at this price, it’s clear that it’s the best choice for a cheap Steam Deck dock.
With three Type-A USB 3.0 ports and an extra Type-C port, the Sabrent dock is better than the original $40/£35 Jsaux Steam Deck Dock, which only has USB 2.0 ports. Even the $50-upgraded Jsaux Dock can’t connect as well as the Sabrent. Even though it doesn’t have an Ethernet port, it has a great USB Type-C 3.0 port for charging accessories or adding more storage.
Pros
- 95W Power Delivery
- Improves on the competition for less
- Additional USB Type-C 3.0 port
Cons
- No ethernet port
- Can’t dock with a case on
Jsaux M.2 Docking Station
Specification
Product Dimensions | 4.45 x 2.64 x 1.1 inches |
Item Weight | 5 ounces |
Manufacturer | JSAUX |
Country of Origin | China |
The JSAUX M.2 Steam Deck Dock is a true work of art. Even though JSAUX is not the only company to add an M.2 slot to a Steam Deck dock, it was one of the first. And for $130/£90, it’s not a bad buy, since it comes from a trusted company and has specs that are the same or better than the official dock.
But if you expect transfer speeds that are lightning fast, you will need to lower your expectations. That’s without the SSD, but there are a few different package options. One costs $200/£166 and comes with a 1TB SSD. The one we have comes with a 2TB SSD, which is the maximum capacity. The more expensive SSD costs $270/£225.
Pros
- M.2 slot included
- Snug, sturdy non-slip fit
- Good spec on the ports
Cons
- Edgy patterning
- Too much money with SSD included
Tomtoc Arccos Carrying bag
Specification
Product Dimensions | 12.36 x 5.45 x 2.36 inches |
Item Weight | 11.3 ounces |
Department | Unisex |
Manufacturer | tomtoc |
With a power supply, dock, and maybe some cables, a Steam Deck must have a large carrying case. After trying a few other models, we decided on this soft-sided Tomtoc carry bag because the case that comes with the game from Valve is too small and the zipper gets stuck right away. It’s big, but it has a separate area for accessories and a pocket for microSD cards.
The main section has extra padding for the screen and V-shaped wings that match the shape of the Steam Deck’s grips. Slim case to carry the Steam Deck: Especially made for players of Steam Deck to travel with and carry. Extremely thin and light. Whether you’re going to work or going far away, it’s your best option.

Item Weight | 3.36 ounces |
Hardware Platform | PC/Mac |
Operating System | Microsoft Windows |
Power Source | Battery Powered |
Batteries | 1 AA batteries required. (included) |
As we looked through our box of gaming mouse for the best one to use with our Steam Deck, the $40 Logitech G305 stood out right away. It’s not too big, it doesn’t have too many buttons or gimmicks, and it’s wireless, which is the most important thing. We were happy to find it on our list of the best cheap gaming mice.
You can also check out our roundup of the best mice for more ideas. With 400 IPS precision and up to 12000 DPI sensitivity, the next-generation HERO mouse sensor saves up to 10 times as much power as other gaming mice. It is also very accurate and responsive.

FAQs
Which Steam Deck bundle is best?
The 512GB Steam Deck is the most expensive of all of them. Standard for basic gaming PCs, 512GB is enough space for a lot of AAA games. It also has a nicer bag.
Is Steam Deck worth the hype?
My favourite gadget of 2022 is the Steam Deck. No longer do I have any doubts about recommending it. One should be bought by the kind of person who would buy one.
How long does Steam Deck battery last?
The 40Wh capacity of the battery is pretty good for something this small. But the AMD APU inside is pretty powerful, which means that in the right situations, it can kill the battery life. Valve’s first claims were that it would last between 2 and 8 hours, but it is possible to empty it in less than two hours.
What should I install on my Steam Deck first?
The best thing to do is to get the free game Aperture Desk Job. It’s like a tutorial for the Steam Deck with a Portal theme. It shows you how different control schemes work and lets you try them out before you jump into something more complicated.
