When you’re working out, do you get a lot of text messages or phone calls on your Apple Watch? In that case, you might want to use the Workout Enable Workout Do Not Disturb on Apple Watch to turn off all these alerts so you can focus on your workout.
We’ve seen “Do Not Disturb” mode on iPhones and “Do Not Disturb While Driving,” which helps you stay focused on the road. Do Not Disturb While Driving turns on automatically when the iPhone is connected to a Bluetooth car stereo system or when it detects motion activity that is similar to driving a car. The Workout Do Not Disturb mode on the Apple Watch turns on automatically when you start a workout.

What Does Do Not Disturb Do?
Do Not Disturb is used to turn off alerts, but it doesn’t change the volume of the device. Only alerts can be turned off. Most of the time, notifications won’t show up on the device’s lock screen or turn on the screen.
Devices that have a “Do Not Disturb” mode have a switch that can be found in a shortcuts or notifications panel. Most also let you schedule the mode to turn on or off at certain times, like when you’re sleeping. Do Not Disturb turns off notifications, but it doesn’t stop them from coming in. The event that would normally trigger a notification still happens, and you can still look at it later in a notification panel or the app that generated it.

On Apple Watch, Silent Mode and Do Not Disturb are not the same thing. Silent Mode only silences sounds, so haptics (vibrate) will remain on if they are enabled in the settings. Do Not Disturb will also silence haptics so that you are not disturbed. Silent Mode does not silence alarms or timers on Apple Watch.
