If you have more than Rename Email Accounts in Mail App on your iPhone or iPad, you may have noticed that the default name for each email account is the name of the email provider, like “iCloud,” “Gmail,” “Outlook,” and “Yahoo.” These names aren’t very clear, and it can get even more confusing if you set up two mail accounts from the same service provider with Mail app.
You might end up with “Gmail” and “Gmail” or “Outlook” and “Outlook,” where one is the default address and the other is a miscellaneous inbox with no clear way to tell them apart. You don’t have to put up with those vague and sometimes confusingly repetitive email account names. Instead, you can rename the account to something more meaningful, like the email address or the account’s purpose. Rename Email Accounts in Mail App
On iPhone and iPad
- Open the Settings app and tap Mail.
- Go to Accounts and select one of the added accounts.
- Tap the Account tile.
- Enter the new custom mailbox name in the Description field and tap Done.
On Mac
- Open the Mail app and press the Command + Comma (,) keys together. You can also click Mail > Settings or Preferences from the left of the top menu bar.
- Go to the Accounts section.
- Select an added email account from the left side.
- Enter the desired name in the Description field and press the enter key on your keyboard.
