In this article we will show you how to Use Logic Jump for Multiple Choice in Typeform. This is great if you want to qualify leads and ask different questions based on how they answered earlier questions.
Please note that logic jumps are a paid feature of Typeform, so you will need a pro account to turn on your form. First, let’s add some simple questions, like “What is your first name, email address, etc.” Press “Add new question” or “Enter” to add a new question.
Make sure you choose the right question type in each question’s settings menu. Also, add a multiple-choice question if you want to use routing options. Lastly, add a payment screen and a thank you screen from the question menu.
Steps to Use Logic Jump for Multiple Choice in Typeform
- To get started, add a Multiple Choice or Picture Choice question. We’re using the former:
- Be sure to activate Multiple selection from the right-hand Question panel.
- Add the 4 follow-up questions based on the 4 possible answers.
- Choose Logic from the right-hand panel, then click Branching and calculations. Add the following Logic to the Multiple Choice question ‘Which news magazines do you like to read
- We want to hide irrelevant follow up questions from respondents. To do this, we’ll add the same set of Logic we added to the Multiple Choice question in step #3 to each follow-up question – but excluding any Logic covering the jumps to the current and previous questions. They cascade, with fewer jumps on each subsequent block, as you’ll see
What is Logic?
Logic isn’t available on our mobile builder just yet. To get the most out of Logic, you need to edit your typeform on your desktop. With Logic, you can make a typeform that responds to the answers people give. Respondents will never have to skip over questions that aren’t important because they won’t even see them.
It’s also a great way to divide your audience into smaller groups and make their experience as easy as possible. What were they? By giving your respondents a more personal, human experience, you can get them to fill out your surveys more often.
Say you want to find out what animal lovers think. We’d start by asking something like, “Do you like cats or dogs?” But we don’t want cat people to see questions about dogs or dog people to see questions about cats. Start by making the first multiple-choice question and then the two groups of questions, one for questions about cats and one for questions about dogs:

How do I allow multiple selections in typeform?
You just have to create a multiple choice question, add your choices and then on the right menu “Question”, you toggle the option “Multiple Selection” on. Then, you can select if you want “Unlimited”, “Exact Number” or a “Range” of selections.

How to do data validation with multiple selections?
Go to Data –> Data Tools –> Data Validation. In the Data Validation dialogue box, within the settings tab, select ‘List’ as Validation Criteria. In Source field, select the cells which have the items that you want in the drop down. Click OK.
