The Galaxy A13 5G is one of Tracfone’s most affordable 5G phones. It has a 6.5-inch screen, triple rear camera, 4 GB RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage. To get the most out of Tracfone’s 5G network, people will need phones that work with the new frequencies and speeds. And Samsung has been putting out devices that work with it, like the Galaxy A32 5G last year and the A53 5G just recently. The A13 is the follow-up to last year’s A12, which was a good budget device with good performance. But the big news is that the A13 can use 5G. Most 5G phones for Tracfone (or even unlocked ones) have been too expensive for most users until now.
Depending on where you are in the world, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy A13 in black, white, peach, or blue. We were sent the white version to review. As you might expect for this price, the design is very simple and made of plastic, but it has a nice curve and is put together very well. In other words, it feels like a phone that will last, and we like how the back camera module is built into the back of the phone, in the top left corner.
Samsung is doing this with all of its Galaxy phones this year. At first glance, you might think that this phone is more expensive than it is, which is a good sign that the design and engineering teams did a good job. The 6.6-inch screen determines the size of the phone, which is 165.1 x 76.4 x 8.8mm, or 6.5 inches by 3 inches by 0.35 inches. The phone weighs 195 grammes, which is about 0.43 pounds. By today’s standards, it’s a pretty small handset, and it’s easy to hold and comfortable to hold.
As you look at the phone, the volume controls are on the right. Just below the volume controls is the power button, which has a fingerprint sensor built in. We’d rather have these sensors built into the screen, but it’s not a deal-breaker. At the bottom, there’s a USB-C port, and next to it, Samsung put a 3.5mm headphone jack. The A13, like most cheap phones, is not waterproof or dustproof. You won’t want to put it in the sink or let it get wet in the rain.
Users can count on the A13’s 5,000 mAh battery and powerful processor to keep it going all day. This device could easily last for two days on a single charge if it was only used a little bit. It does have 15W fast charging, but be aware that this year’s models from Samsung don’t come with a charging block.
