To give customers a more affordable option to their higher-end products, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Tab A series. Be clear that these are not “flagship killers” but rather entry-level trailblazers that are the best low-cost alternative for people looking for a little additional screen space.
The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, as its name suggests, is a lighter, more compact version of the Galaxy Tab A7 tablet that the company unveiled in 2020. Its dimensions are 8.37 x 4.91 x 0.31 inches, and its weight is only 0.81 pounds. It means that it is smaller and lighter than practically any tablet available today. The major exception is Apple’s iPad mini, which, at 8 x 5.3 x 0.24 inches and 0.66 pounds, is still slightly smaller and lighter than the Tab A7 Lite.
The 8.7-inch, 1,340 x 800 pixel screen on the Tab A7 Lite generally looks decent. The vivid reds and yellows that stood out in movies like The Tomorrow War and Knives Out are lovely and vibrant. In contrast, there was some observable smearing and blurring of details in dimly lit or frantic scenarios. That might be related to the Tab A7 Lite’s relatively low pixel density. It is not as sharp as the Fire HD 10 2021 (224), the Galaxy Tab A7 (224), or the iPad 2020 (approximately 179 ppi) (264 ppi). The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite can show 81.8% of the sRGB colour spectrum, according to our colorimeter testing. That falls short of the 100% ideal by a fair margin and is not quite as vibrant as the iPad 2020 (97%) or the Galaxy Tab A7 (101.7%).
You should anticipate 10 to 12 hours of screen-on time from a full charge for real-world activities like watching movies and browsing the internet, depending on the brightness level. The device should last closer to four hours if you use it frequently at maximum brightness. At the highest charge rate of 15W, it takes about four hours to charge from 0% to 100%. This is typical for the majority of inexpensive tablets.
The utility of the tablet as a media consumption device is increased with expandable storage. The base model only comes with 32GB of storage, but you can add up to 1TB through microSD. You won’t notice the “nearing maximum storage” alert as frequently if you have more room for your images, games, videos, and other media items.
Samsung’s tablet excels with a high-quality exterior, so even at the low price, the build quality is good. Due to its stable frame, it can only be minimally depressed or twisted. The pressure point on the plastic keys is delightfully strong and has little play.
