The ROG Nebula Display is included with those systems. Asus has been dipping into its favorite laptops, but I’m particularly disappointed that it hasn’t been able to locate an equal big screen version for this 17-inch machine yet. When compared to the brilliant screen that comes standard on the ROG Zephyrus M16, the display on the Scar 17 appears a little lackluster and possibly even worn out. The key spec, as always in a gaming notebook, is that of the CPU/GPU combo. The mobile AMD CPU is the most significant innovation to come out of this, despite the fact that we have previously spent a lot of time discussing the mobile RTX 4090 and criticizing its misnaming as an RTX 4080 in thin disguise.
It is the most recent iteration of AMD’s Zen 4 architecture, and it has been brought into the domain of laptops. This architecture is pretty dang exceptional, and it hosts the competitive Intel 13th Gen CPUs utilized in comparison systems. Often by a considerable margin. It’s a computing beast with 16 cores and 32 threads, but it hasn’t caught fire yet despite being confined within the limits of this remarkably lightweight chassis.

Where to get ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17?
The Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 (2024) has poor battery life like many gaming laptops with the latest CPU and GPU combinations. My testing shows that it can last four solid hours of typical computing use, thus it should last a bi-coastal trip if viewing videos or browsing the web. This makes the ROG Strix Scar 17 ideal for creatives. We found that Handbrake 1.6 converted a 12-minute 4K movie to 1080p in 2:47.
This speeds up Photoshop and Premiere Pro exports. Dolby Vision makes compatible video look great. When opened, the RGB keyboard with per-key lighting looks just as good. The default five programmable macro keys control volume, mic on/off switch, fan speed, and more. Whether perusing the web, sending emails, or gaming, mechanical keystrokes feel nice.
For the latest Asus ROG Strix Scar 17, AMD and NVIDIA deliver high-performance gaming in a superior laptop. Sound and video are amazing in a war-ready chassis. However, the premium ticket price doesn’t include industry-leading biometric security, web conferencing, or battery life.
