The Anker Soundcore Space Q45 is a new member of the Anker Soundcore Life headset series. With a strong focus on active noise cancellation (ANC), this new headset has many of the same features and similar build quality. The Anker Soundcore Space Q45 is primarily made of plastic. Fortunately, the ear cups adjust well and swivel so they lay flat. Also, the earcups fold up and can be stored in the included pouch. You can put the headset in a pocket when you’re in a pinch, but the plastic doesn’t seem too scratch-resistant.
The metal-reinforced headband is the sturdiest part of the headset and has some give to accommodate larger heads. The padding on the headband mitigates any hot spots that may form on the wearer’s head. Overall, the Space Q45 is very comfortable for a few hours at a stretch. As long as you don’t break a sweat, you’ll be fine with these headphones while commuting to work or listening to music.
The Anker Soundcore Space Q45 connects via Bluetooth, with a 3.5mm cable jack as a backup. The headset is charged via a standard USB-C cable. As for connectivity options, the headset is compatible with different Bluetooth codecs depending on the phone. The default is AAC, but there’s also support for SBC and LDAC if you enable it through the Soundcore app.
Anker advertises a battery life of 65 hours with ANC off and 50 hours with ANC on. In our test, the headset achieved a battery life of 55 hours and 48 minutes, which exceeds these claims. The headset also supports fast charging, which means you’ll likely never find yourself in a situation where the Space Q45 is rendered useless by a dead battery.
In general, the Anker Soundcore Space Q45 offers pretty solid noise isolation. When you put the headset on, it does a good job of blocking out conversations or music at low volumes. The headset also supports active noise cancellation and a sound-passthrough mode, all controlled by the ANC button on the left ear cup. The ANC is pretty solid, though it can’t match market-leading headsets like the Sony WH-1000XM5.
