Bang & Olufsen doesn’t keep making new types. There are times when items from as far back as the 1970s end up back on store shelves. But models that aren’t even “new” can be sold for years. The Bang & Olufsen Beosound 2 (3rd Generation), and the second generation came out in 2019 with voice control through Google Assistant. The new third generation of the speaker has been released. It has a totally new software platform that should make the product future-proof for many years to come, among other things. When it comes to software, claims of being future-proof rarely last longer than a few years at most. But Bang & Olufsen is likely the only company that can make this work. You can still connect Beolink devices from the 1970s to the company’s multi-room setups today!
The new software not only promises a long and happy future, but it also adds automatic room correction to the Beosound 2. This is called Active Room Compensation, and it uses a microphone to pick up sound that is reflected from the room and changes the frequency response to match. Google Assistant, on the other hand, no longer lets you use your voice.
The form and hardware seem to have stayed the same from the last two generations. It has a cone-shaped aluminum tower with a tweeter and a dispersion lens on top, and a five-inch woofer facing downwards at the bottom of the cabinet. BeoSound 2 can work in both mono and stereo because both the speaker and the tweeter can send sound in any direction. Still, there are two middle drivers behind the vertical grille. One is on each side of the speaker. These work in stereo and are meant to make the sound feel big.

Where to Get Bang & Olufsen Beosound 2 (3rd Generation)?
Because this is my third time using the Beosound 2, I am able to say with absolute certainty that the third version is on par with its predecessors, but with a few minor enhancements. In accordance with what one would anticipate from Bang & Olufsen in the upscale market, the design continues to uphold its great standards, thereby satisfying the high expectations that one would rightfully seek. The auditory experience is nevertheless enjoyable and smooth, despite the fact that it does not have the stereo perspective that is generally associated with stereo equipment.
It is able to effortlessly fill the space with a sound that is both luxurious and immersive. The entire performance of the Beosound 2 exhibits a seamless marriage of elegant design with a rich aural landscape, which puts it as a significant contender in the market for high-end audio. Both of these characteristics are exemplified by the Beosound 2.
