Before Jabra established itself in the truly wireless category, the Danish electronics consumer brand produced Bluetooth headsets for the telecoms market. It is therefore not surprising that it entered the wireless earphone segment. The first product launched, the Elite 65t, was a big hit, thanks to its deep functionality and excellent sound and call quality. The momentum continued with the Editor’s Choice Elite Active 75t, followed by the Elite 85t with noise-cancelling features.
The Connect 5T is a faithful reproduction of the company’s Elite 5. The size and weight have not changed. Each bud is encased in rugged plastic and has IP55 protection against dust, sweat and heavy water splashes. Every detail is the same, including the microphone opening and the distorted oval design. The same titanium black colouring is also used.
The charging case is also unchanged. It remains compact and is made of the same material as the buds. Strong magnets allow the lid to be securely closed while the bud is docked in the charging slot. It can withstand tipping onto concrete, but this makes the exterior more vulnerable to scratches.
The Jabra Connect 5t True Wireless earphones are optimised for use in any environment – at home, in the office or on the go. The earbuds feature 6-mic call technology for clear virtual meetings or mobile phone calls, Hybrid ANC for enhanced focus and all-day comfort, and Bluetooth Multipoint allows you to connect to two devices at the same time, such as a laptop and a smartphone, so you can use the earbuds with multiple devices at the same time, like me for example. This allows you to work seamlessly, even if you work with multiple devices at the same time, as I do, for example.
The design is familiar and identical to the current portfolio of earphones I have recently reviewed, which is fine by me.
Highs, lows and mids are fine, and the volume is plenty loud enough for me. Here, the SBC AAC and aptX codecs are good for mid-priced earphones, with the latter people looking for these days. Music movies and more they work great and do very central, in my usual test loop they pass my test which is music video and movie time and I have no complaints and the price paid should be too. Another great feature is the seamless switching when using multiple devices. Plus, there is wireless charging, which I have employed for some time, which is great for people in similar environments, and in fact, it can be paired with up to six devices.
