Dell just came out with its newest laptop, the XPS 13. We put it on our list of the best laptops because it has a price that competes with Apple’s MacBook Air. With the 2022 Envy x360 13, HP has taken the same approach, but it goes one step further.
The Envy x360 13 is a 2-in-1 that can be opened in 360 degrees and has a beautiful OLED display option that costs less than the high-end IPS models on the XPS 13. In general, we’ve liked HP’s Envy line because it performs well and costs less than many other high-end machines. we’ve rarely seen a device that has so many features and costs so little. It’s a very good deal.
Even though the HP Envy x360 is the cheaper cousin of the HP Spectre, it does not skimp on build quality or looks. The chassis is made of strong recycled metal that is black and looks classy. It also protects the laptop from small drops.
If you like 2-in-1 laptops, the solid hinges on the Envy keep the lid and body from flopping when the laptop is in tent mode or pulled back into tablet mode. When looking for a cheap 2-in-1, pay special attention to the hinges, which are often weak and easy to break. The audio grilles on the sides don’t stand out, and because they are bigger than those on many other laptops, the sound from this one goes farther.
The 6-inch, comfortably thick stylus pen has two small, stiff buttons and a sliding-door USB-C port for charging. It sticks magnetically to the side of the laptop and worked well even with my fastest swipes and scribbles. As for the software that comes with the computer, the HP Command Center utility has a lot of tools and apps. You can change the display’s colour mode or temperature between default, sRGB, Adobe RGB, DCI-P3, and automated through the HP Display Control menu.
The HP Envy x360 has a 4-cell, 66 Wh Li-ion polymer battery, and according to the official numbers, it can last up to 17 hours and 30 minutes. But overall, this machine’s battery life is very good, and one charge would definitely last you the whole workday and beyond. The good news is that it supports fast charging and can reach about 50% in 45 minutes. This means that even if your battery is low, you can quickly top it up when you stop for a coffee or take a break. Also, the charger is small and easy to carry, just like the rest of this laptop.
