The Amazfit T-Rex Pro is the latest rugged smartwatch from Huami, which will soon be known as Zepp. The new Amazfit T-Rex is a Pro version of the original Amazfit T-Rex, which we reviewed in depth last year. It has 10ATM water resistance, up from 5ATM on the old model, and Huami’s own BioTracker PPG 2 optical sensor. Aside from that, you get the same military-grade rugged design as before with a little tweaked software.
Almost everything about the T-Rex Pro is the same as the original Amazfit T-Rex. This new version also has four screws in the bezel, which gives it a practical, industrial, and slightly plasticky look. There are also four metal buttons on the edge of the case. The mode, back, up, and down buttons are big enough to press easily while running or wearing gloves. Too easily, in fact, so that presses will happen by accident.

Where to buy T-Rex Pro Smartwatch?
The T-Rex Pro is a chunky polycarbonate watch with a 47.7mm diameter and a thickness of 13.5mm. It has a more masculine look and weighs only 59.4g, so it never feels heavy. Zepp says that the T-Rex Pro can take shocks, can work in temperatures from -40°C to 70°C, can handle salt spray, and meets the MIL-STD-810G standard. However, its ability to be waterproof down to 100m is by far its most important rugged feature. That’s twice as much as the first version could do.
If notifications are turned on, you can also get to them by swiping right from the main watch face. However, you can’t do much with them other than read them on the watch, and the way the text is formatted can sometimes cause strange line breaks that make them hard to read quickly.
In the watch’s workout menu, the exercises are organised by colour and include walking, hiking, cycling, open-water swimming, surfing, strength training, tai chi, archery, and even driving. Even though it has the same 390mAh battery capacity as its predecessor, Zepp has made up for the Pro model’s extra sensors and features by cutting the battery life estimate by a couple of days (from 20 down to 18).
