The MSI GS77 Stealth has been MSI’s gaming elite’s portable choice for a long time. Last year’s 5.4-pound GS76 Stealth didn’t change that much, but this year’s 0.79-inch-thick, 6.17-pound GS77 has put that idea in the sun. This laptop is big, thick, and heavy. It doesn’t have the flashy light strips and LED grids that other gaming laptops have, but its RGB keyboard makes it clear that gaming is its main purpose.
One can see why MSI might have wanted to go bigger, since the chips inside almost every case they’ve worked on this year have been frying. The model we were sent has a 12th Gen Core i7-12900H, which is one of the most powerful mobile chips Intel has ever made. It also has Nvidia’s RTX 3070 Ti, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage, all of which power a 240Hz QHD screen.

Where to get MSI Stealth GS77 laptop?
But the GS77 Stealth seems to have lost some of what made it appealing as a “portable” buy because of its new size. The keyboard is a bit flat, the touchpad is uncomfortable, the battery life isn’t great, and the device is too big and heavy to bring anywhere regularly. We’re left with a computer that asks for many of the same trade-offs as the most powerful gaming computers on the market, but doesn’t have the same great frame rates.
There are a lot of ports, and since this is a new Intel-based machine, Thunderbolt 4 is the most important one. On top, there is another USB-C port, two USB-A ports, a headphone jack, a charging port, HDMI, DisplayPort, an SD card reader, and Ethernet. There is also a webcam switch on the left side for people who care about privacy. It may take some time to get used to how these ports are spread out on the left, right, and back of the device.
