The new Barracuda X, which comes in black, pink, or white, looks exactly the same as the old one. It’s Razer’s most unassuming headset. It has plain, oblong plastic cups with flat backs and embossed Razer logos that are almost unnoticeable. All of the headset’s connections and settings are on the bottom edge of the left earcup. These include 3.5mm connectors for the boom mic and the aux cable that comes with the headphones, a USB-C port for charging, a power button (now labeled 2.4 and BT to show that it switches between the two wireless modes), a volume wheel, and a switch to mute the mic.

Where to get Razer Barracuda X Wireless Gaming & Mobile Headset?
Razer gives you a lot of cords with the Barracuda X. There’s a USB-A-to-male-USB-C cable for charging, a USB-A-to-female-USB-C cable for connecting the USB-C transmitter to a USB-A port, and a 3.5mm headphone cable for using the headset wired. The antenna is a small, rectangular piece of plastic, like the one on the Barracuda Pro.
Razer doesn’t include a case or even a pouch with the Barracuda X, so you’ll have to figure out how to take the cables and transmitter on your own. The smart, zip-up case of the Barracuda Pro might have been too much for the cheap Barracuda X, but a cloth bag would have been nice to keep everything together. This is a typical complaint about USB-C transmitters for gaming headsets. They’re so small that it’s easy to lose them if you don’t have a place to put them.
Through its 2.4GHz transmitter, the Barracuda X is made to work with PCs, the Nintendo Switch, and the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It also works with any device that has Bluetooth built in without the adapter, and it can connect to 3.5mm wires. Razer says that it can work for up to 50 hours on a single charge.
Even though the Barracuda X works with a PC, it doesn’t work with Razer’s Synapse software, so it doesn’t have an amplifier or any other sound settings when it’s plugged into your computer. But if you run the Razer 7.1 Surround Sound app for Windows, you can fake 7.1-channel surround sound. You have to sign up for a Razer account and register your headset. The app doesn’t have any other options than a switch for the surround sound mode. Strangely, the Barracuda X doesn’t come with an EQ for computer, but the Razer Audio app on your phone gives you access to a 10-band equalizer. This doesn’t give your phone virtual surround sound; it just lets you change the way it sounds.
