The most interesting thing about it is probably that it can shoot in 4K at 60 frames per second. That’s on par with GoPro, but the SJ8 Pro can do more than that. The fisheye lens on the SJ8 Pro comes with a Sony IMX377 sensor and an Ambarella H22 S85 chipset. It has a fixed focal length of 2.8mm, a 170° field of view, and an aperture that goes down to f2.8. It also has an 8x digital zoom, which is useful.
It can shoot video at a maximum of 4K 60fps, but it can also do 720p at 240fps for slow-mo. Everything is recorded as h264 or the new space-saving codec h265 MP4 files, and the image is stabilized on six axes.
The SJ8 Pro’s battery only lasts 90 minutes when it’s filming in the highest quality, though, which is a steep price to pay for high-quality video. Even so, that’s with the 2.33-inch touchscreen on the back turned off, as well as WiFi, which the SJ8Pro has in both 2.4 GHz and 5GHz versions for file transfer and controlling apps from afar.

Where to get SJCAM SJ8Pro action camera?
Its highest resolution for photos is 12 megapixels, which is the same as the Hero7 Black. The SJ8 Pro can take photos in both raw and JPEG formats, which is a plus. As a dashcam, you can use the SJ8 Pro because it has a handy “car mode” that loops recordings. The SJ8 Pro can be charged with a USB-C cable, just like most other devices in 2019.
Even though the SJCAM SJ8 Pro is very strong and well-made, it won’t win any awards for its design. You could even say that the soft-touch black plastic-covered matchbox style of action cameras, which has been popular for a long time, is on its way out. The biggest practical flaw of the 62.5 x 41 x 28.8 mm, 90g chassis, which is basically a smaller version of SJCAM’s older SJ8 Plus, is that it is not waterproof out of the box.
To take the SJCAM SJ8 Pro to depths of 30 m, you need a clear plastic case that bolts on. Compared to the latest GoPro models, this is a big difference, and the SJCAM SJ8 Pro’s case is hard to put on and take off. We liked the tiny lens protector made of silicon rubber, which is something that most action camera makers forget to include.
The software inside the SJ8 Pro is very impressive and makes it easy for anyone to use. Even though the grid-style menus have a lot of settings, it can take a lot of presses to make a simple change because there are so many modes. The sensitive 2.33-inch touchscreen, on the other hand, makes that pretty easy.
