The TCL 20 Pro 5G is a nice-looking budget phone that fixes some of the problems we had with the first-generation 10 Pro, but it’s not quite ready to take on the category leaders.
It’s also not compatible with AT&T’s 5G network and isn’t certified to use C-band frequencies, which are likely to make Verizon and AT&T’s 5G networks much better over the next couple of years. It’s another device that may work best for T-Mobile customers since they can use both 4G and 5G and don’t have to worry as much about C-band.

The design of the 20 Pro 5G is so sleek that it makes other flagship phones take notice. With a height, width, and depth (HWD) of 6.5 by 3 by 0.40 inches and a weight of 7.3 ounces, it’s the perfect size: big enough to have an immersive display and small enough to use with one hand.
The body is made of two glass panels that are fused together with an aluminium frame. It comes in grey or blue. The back of the phone has a slight texture that feels good in your hands and gives you a little grip. On the top of the phone is a headphone jack, and on the bottom are a USB-C charging port, a SIM slot, and a speaker grille.
On the left side of the phone is a Smart Key that lets you access your favourite apps with one, two, or three taps. The volume rocker and power button are on the right side, so people with small hands may have to stretch to reach them.
The back of a phone doesn’t usually get me excited, but the 20 5G Pro is an exception. There isn’t a big camera bump with a spider-eyed lens setup like on many phones. Instead, a vertical line of sensors sits flush on the left side of the device. It’s a simple and elegant solution, and I hope that other companies will follow TCL’s lead.
Where to get TCL 20 Pro 5G smartphone?
The front of the phone is dominated by a 6.67-inch, 21:9 AMOLED display that has no borders around it. With 395ppi, the resolution is 2,400 by 1,080 pixels. The screen has been certified as HDR10. The TCL 20 Pro 5G has four cameras on the back. This isn’t the phone’s best feature, but they do what they need to do.
There’s a main camera with 48MP and f/1.7, an ultra-wide camera with 16MP and f/2.4, a macro camera with 5MP and f/2.2, and a depth-sensing camera with 2MP and f/2.4. A 32MP f/2.45 camera is on the front.
