At its price, ViewSonic’s first 4K laser UST projector is a great choice. It’s small, has a great picture, works with 3D, and is simple to use. ViewSonic says that this is its second-generation laser phosphor light source technology in its marketing materials. And while the official specs talk about a 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, the X2000B’s 3000:1 native contrast ratio is a more useful feature. This keeps up with projectors that are known to use the Appotronics ALPD 3.0 light source.
The default settings for the X2000B’s picture mode give a nice picture with accurate skin tones. It may not be as good at saturating colors as a triple-laser RGB UST, but it does a good job with what it can do.
The X2000B does a tricky balancing act: it’s easy to use, but it also lets you make the changes you need to get the most out of the hardware it comes with. There are calibration controls in each of the picture modes. To do a proper calibration, you need a meter and software, but once you have those things, it’s easy, effective, and only takes a few minutes because you can get high accuracy with a simple 2-point grayscale adjustment.

This UST from ViewSonic has two HDMI cable 2.0 ports, and one of them supports ARC. On the X2000B, there is a stereo analog output that can be used as a headphone jack or a stereo line output. The same jack can also be used as a coaxial-digital output with the right adapter cable. Unfortunately, the projector doesn’t have a variable audio output that works with the volume control, so you can’t use it to connect an external subwoofer to the projector to boost the sound. It has both Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port so that you can connect to the Internet and other networks.
Where to get ViewSonic X2000B-4K Ultra Short Throw 4K UHD Laser Projector?
This projector can be mounted in different ways, such as in front or behind the screen or above or below the screen. The ceiling mount bracket screws into screw holes on the bottom of the unit. It is surprisingly small for a UST, measuring 17.75 x 3.9 x 13.1 inches (WHD), and has a front grille that sticks out farther than the projector cabinet. It is 15 pounds heavy.
The 0.22:1 throw ratio is typical for midrange UST projectors, but ViewSonic’s claim that it works with screens from 65 inches to 150 inches is unusual. It’s not the only UST that can do this, but as far as I know, it’s the only one whose official specs list such a wide range of sizes. In practical terms, it means that the projector will be able to focus well on screens between those sizes. But it’s important to know that most lenticular ALR screens only come in 100-inch and 120-inch sizes.
