If you’re looking for a well-made Bluetooth speaker at a fair price, this is a good choice. It was made by the same people who made the MaxSound Plus, and its engineering is just as good as what you’d expect from Tribit. It has two drivers and two passive bass radiators, so it can make high-quality sound at a price that won’t break the bank.
This speaker has a soft, rubberized plastic case and a sturdy frame that can stand up to a lot of abuse. The frames and grates of the speakers are made of aluminium, which gives them a lot of strength and rigidity while keeping the sleek look of a smooth plastic case.
The speaker, a micro-USB charging cable, and a 3.5mm audio cable are all included in the box. There is also a getting started guide in more than one language. There’s no bag or case to carry it in. The speaker looks good at first glance. It has a pretty standard design, but it is small at 65mm x 198mm x 68mm. It is matte black and has a metal grille with the Tribit logo right above the speakers. It weighs 621g and is pretty dense, but it feels solid and doesn’t bend or creak. It has four small rubber feet to hold it up.
Around the back, there’s a lanyard that’s already attached, venting for the passive radiator, and a rubber seal that makes the speaker IPX7 waterproof. Removing the rubber seal reveals a 3.5mm audio in port and a micro-USB port for charging. It’s always a letdown when the more modern USB-C connection isn’t used. And it doesn’t have a USB port like the Soundcore Boost does.
The rubberized control buttons run along the top, and the microphone is right above the play button. This lets you make voice calls and use Google or Siri from a connected device. The MaxSound Plus is a good speaker for listening to music or following along with an audiobook. These speakers do a great job at both, and they offer many features for a price in the middle.
At a moderate volume level, the MaxSound Plus is said to have a battery life of 20 hours. The XSoundGo’s battery lasts for 24 hours, so this isn’t quite as good, but it’s still pretty good. It can be charged with a Micro-USB cable, but we’d prefer USB-C. It also has an audio input for devices that don’t support Bluetooth. It takes 4 hours to fully charge the speaker, which is twice as long as the XSound Go.
