The Edifier D12 is a Bluetooth stereo speaker with a single cabinet. The best way to explain it is that it looks like a good deal. The D12 is about 6 inches high, 14 inches wide, and 8 inches deep, not counting the rubber feet that come with it. The end caps are made of woodgrain, the top is black, and there is a black soft fabric cover that can be taken off. It looks like it should cost more.
At the back of the speaker are the power switch, stereo RCA ports, 3.5mm auxiliary stereo input, and 3.5mm stereo line out. The AC cord is built in. Bass, pitch, and volume are all controlled by knobs on top. The knobs are a good size, move easily, and the two EQ knobs have a satisfying click at the zero point in the middle.
The high end worked fine, but the midrange, especially the upper end, isn’t quite as clear or present as I’d like to hear it. The stereo split is fine, but not as clear as I had hoped when I first saw the box. It sounds like stereo, but it’s not very wide, and things in the sound field aren’t as clear as they would be with a small tilt to the side. Both of those minor complaints could be caused by the speaker position. It looks like the drivers are pointed out to the sides because of the curved front grill, but they’re not. There is a flat panel behind that curvy grill that holds the speakers. The drivers are facing straight ahead.
