The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is a brand-new tablet from Samsung. This is a cheaper version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, which I reviewed at the end of last year. The Galaxy Tab S6 is very expensive, but it has an AMOLED screen, four speakers, and a strong processor. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, on the other hand, has a TFT screen, two speakers, and a processor that isn’t as strong. With this new “Lite” version, Samsung had to cut costs, but is it still good enough to recommend? Find out by reading on.
The back and frame of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite are made of metal, and the front is made of glass. This gives the tablet a strong feel, as if it could handle being dropped a few times. The device is a bit heavy, at 467g, because of the materials used. For comparison, that’s at least twice as heavy as most smartphones. With dimensions of 244.5 x 154.3 x 7mm, it’s a pretty average size for a screen of that size, and it’s definitely not the size of a laptop. In fact, we were able to fit the tablet into large pockets on some clothes.
[content-egg-block template=offers_logo hide=price]The screen’s bezel is pretty thin compared to those on iPads and Galaxy Tab A slates, which may be something that some people like. The low screen-to-body ratio means that the device has a good-sized screen without feeling too big in the hand. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite’s back camera is in the top-left corner if you’re holding the device in portrait mode. On the top of the device is a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The power button and volume rocker are on the right side, and the USB-C port is on the bottom. Some cheap tablets don’t have USB-C ports. Instead, they have micro USB, which is slower for transferring data and charging, so we’re glad to see it here. Many people who use wired headphones will also like the audio jack. The Tab S6 Lite comes in Oxford Gray, Angora Blue, or Chiffon Rose, though not every region has access to all three colours. Our review model, shown in the picture, was Oxford Gray.
The S Pen stylus is included with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and can be used to draw, sketch, and take notes. Unlike the full-sized Galaxy Tab S6, there is no slot in the body to store the stylus. Instead, you have to magnetically attach it to the right edge. However, if you get the Book Cover, it has a slot for the stylus.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite can be used for the whole day. The Tab S6 Lite ran out of power after 12 hours and 40 minutes. That is faster than the Surface Go 2 (11:39) and the 7th Generation iPad (11:58). The Galaxy Tab S6 (8:58) didn’t last nearly as long as this Lite model.
