The JBL Pulse 4 was succeeded by the JBL Pulse 5, which is currently available. The additional features that come with this speaker help it stand out from the competition significantly. You are able to transform its eye-catching RGB lights into a variety of colors and patterns to suit your whims thanks to its design that encompasses the entire room.
In addition, the JBL Portable app provides you with access to a variety of different ambient noise settings, such as the sounds of a campfire or a rushing river, to assist you in drifting off to sleep at night. Because of the graphic equalizer that is included in its accompanying app, it offers a greater degree of personalization than its predecessor. This speaker doesn’t really cut it when it comes to music.
While you listen to your favorite music, the built-in light show makes it the perfect device for creating the atmosphere you want. On the other hand, because of the excessive emphasis in its high-mids, the overall sound of the instrument is somewhat honky and grating right out of the box. In addition to this, there is a significant absence of low bass, which means that listeners who enjoy bass-heavy genres such as electronic dance music and hip hop may note that the mix has less thud and rumble. However, you do have some control over the sound thanks to the visual equalizer that is included in the JBL Portable app.

Where to get JBL Pulse 5?
The Pulse 5 performed an excellent job of reproducing peppy songs like Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music” and Estelle’s “American Boy,” but the sound was artificial and it did not punch out bass levels as effectively as I had hoped it would. In point of fact, the frequency response sounded uneven, which caused some aspects of my music to seem more direct than others while rendering certain mid-bass subtleties as if they were absent entirely. The upward firing midrange and tweeter driver in the Pulse 5 is responsible for the speaker‘s immersive 360-degree soundstage.
This enables sound to spread out from the driver in all directions, as opposed to forward-firing drivers, which are utilized in the majority of portable speaker systems, which beam sounds towards you. Because it is configured in this manner, the Pulse 5 may be positioned virtually anywhere in the room and yet produce a constant sound. The only thing you need to think about is whether you want to set it on or close to the ground, so that the mid-treble speaker is below ear height, or whether you want to place it on a desk or worktop, where I got a slightly less harsh sound.
