Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Go continues to be a Surface lineup standout because to its ultra-affordable price, great build quality, and stunning display. This laptop will change the appearance of budget computers and is ideal for students. Since then, though, the Surface Laptop Go 2 has been released.
The Surface Laptop Go is one of the smallest laptops I’ve ever examined, measuring just 278mm tall and 206mm broad in comparison to the Surface Laptop 5’s 308mm x 220mm proportions. Microsoft appears to have fed the device too many sugary goodies, as it is not nearly as thin as premium Ultrabooks.
This also implies that it weights 1.11kg, which is quite heavy for a laptop of this size. Nonetheless, lifting it up with one hand and transporting it about the city remains straightforward. Microsoft claims the laptop’s base is constructed of “polycarbonate composite resin system with glass fibre,” which is a fancy term for plastic.
Both the keyboard cover and the top of the lid are made of aluminium, ensuring a higher build quality than the majority of laptops in this price range. Microsoft provides the laptop in three aesthetically pleasing colour options: Ice Blue, Sandstone, and Platinum. The Surface Laptop Go has a respectable array of connectors, including 1 x USB-C, 1 x USB-A, a headphone jack, and a Surface Connect port.
The device’s 12.4-inch PixelSense touchscreen display is suitable for use indoors or in dimly lit outdoor environments. Many laptops in this market do not usually include a touch screen, which is a wonderful feature to have. The Touch reaction was adequate. Screen resolution is 1536 × 1024 pixels at 148 pixels per inch. Outdoor screen legibility in a bright atmosphere is a bit weak even at full brightness and I wish the screen was brighter.
The performance enhancements on the Surface Laptop Go 2 are the most significant. Microsoft has upgraded to an 11th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, which is not cutting-edge but has ample power to make general productivity feel swift. Microsoft equipped the base model with a meagre 4GB of RAM, which is likely why the company handed out a higher-end device with 8GB of RAM for review. In our video rundown test, the Surface Laptop Go 2’s battery lasted for 14 hours and 43 minutes. This is longer than the Surface Pro 8 (13:06) and Surface Laptop Studio (13:00). (12:24).
