Samsung has made minor design modifications to the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Most of the variations are fairly subtle and require a skilled eye to detect. The smartphone’s metal frame is now less rounded, with flatter sides and sharper corners. This phone is less slippery than the Z Flip 3 as a result of the frame’s new glossy finish. The glass panels now feature a smooth matte texture that effectively resists fingerprints.
While the Galaxy Z Flip 4 seems to be the same thickness when folded or open as its predecessor, the metal frame of the back panels has become substantially slimmer, giving it a more streamlined appearance. The size of the cover display and the glass covering it remain unchanged from before. The cameras appear slightly elevated from the surface, preventing the phone from resting level on a table.
The Galaxy Z Flip 4’s inside features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution and an adjustable 1-120Hz refresh rate. Out of the box, it is very saturated in a manner typical of Samsung — must demonstrate the AMOLED’s color capabilities. The cover screen is Super AMOLED and measures 1.9 inches. This is useful if you have a picture to use as your wallpaper on that small panel.
In terms of brightness, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 falls below both the Galaxy S22 Plus and the iPhone 13 Pro. While 772 nits is very good and certainly legible outside, it is difficult to forget how bright the displays on the S22 Plus and iPhone are once you become accustomed to them. However, the Flip 4 performed exceptionally well in our color accuracy tests, even outperforming the iPhone 13 Pro.
Let’s now discuss cameras. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is equipped with a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP front-facing camera. These are the same megapixel numbers as the Flip 3, although Samsung claims the Flip 4’s primary camera is 65% brighter than its predecessor. This device lacks a headphone jack. Samsung does not offer earbuds in the box, so for wired audio, you will need to purchase a pair of high-quality USB-C headphones or a USB-C to 3.5mm adaptor.
The Flip 4 now has a maximum charging speed of 25W, up from 15W on the prior generation. However, no charger is included in the package. The Flip 4 also supports wireless charging, however there is no official information regarding the charging speed, we assume it is the same 10W as before. You also have support for reverse wireless charging, in case you need to fast recharge a watch or wireless headphones.
