Are you having difficulty managing the various digital subscriptions on your iPhone or other Apple devices? Do you want to cancel your Apple Music subscription, News subscription, or other subscriptions? With iOS 10, Apple introduced subscriptions to the News app. Consequently, users may now pay to access particular news services. Furthermore, the growing range of subscription services you can access on your Apple devices now includes Apple Music, newspapers and magazines, subscription-based apps like Headspace, and several TV and video services (e.g., Netflix and Amazon Instant Video).
However, because you pay for everything, it is crucial to keep track of what you are paying for and how to adjust or cancel your plans when they become prohibitive or redundant. Below is our guide to managing subscriptions on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
Subscriptions You Can Manage
- Apple Music
- Apple News
- Newspapers and Magazines
- Other Apps
- TV and Video Services
How to Manage Your Subscriptions on Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch
The process for managing subscriptions on Apple’s iOS is straightforward. You can find everything in your Apple ID account, which you can access from the Settings application.
- Open the Settings application and click iTunes & App Store. Your Apple ID should appear at the top. Tap it, then tap View Apple ID. Use Touch ID, log in, or whatever other method is required to see all of your account settings.
- Click the Subscriptions button to view all of your subscriptions. If the subscription button is not present, it means that iOS is not managing any subscriptions for this account.
- Choose the subscription you want to manage, and select any of the available options to adjust or cancel your subscription (as per your payment schedule).
- If a subscription is not shown, it signifies that you may have logged in with a different Apple ID account. Try signing out and signing back in with that account. If this fails, it indicates that your subscription was not obtained through Apple’s intermediate services but directly from the subscription provider. Therefore, you need to contact the subscription provider directly.
How to Cancel an iPhone or iPad App Subscription
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone/iPad and scroll down to iTunes & App Store
- Click your Apple ID at the top of the screen, hit View Apple ID, enter your passcode/touch ID, and wait for your account information to load.
- Scroll down to the Subscriptions button.
- You’ll see all the expired and current subscriptions on this screen.
- Select the subscription you want to cancel and click the Cancel Subscription button.
- The subscription will continue until the end of the current fee cycle. So, if you paid till the end of the month, then the subscription will continue until then.
How to Cancel a Subscription for a Magazine or Newspaper
The process for canceling an iPad-based magazine or newspaper subscription is the same as above.
How to Re-subscribe to an App
- Select the app you want to subscribe to again.
- Choose the subscription offer you want to use.
Managing Subscriptions on an Apple TV
To manage digital subscriptions on the fourth-generation Apple TV, you’ll need to access the settings. Just like with a phone or tablet, you can manage your subscriptions.
- Open the Settings application, then choose Accounts. Look for Subscriptions, and then select Manage Subscriptions.
- You’ll see a list of subscriptions, including the subscription you want to cancel, as with iOS.
- Choose the subscription you’d like to manage from this list and follow the instructions to adjust or cancel your subscription (as per your payment schedule).
Managing Subscriptions on a Mac or PC
Unlike iOS and tvOS devices, you can’t use your computer to update and manage your Apple account subscriptions via the system preferences. You’ll need to go to the iTunes subscription store and sign in with your appropriate Apple ID account.
- Choose Account from the top menu bar, then choose View My Account and enter your password or fingerprint as per the prompt.
- Choose View Account, go to Account Information, and find the Settings section. Then press Manage next to Subscriptions.
- Choose Edit for the subscription you want to manage, and select the Cancel Subscription option to stop your subscription at the end of the current billing period, as in all of these situations.
- Again, if you paid for a subscription, it may not appear in the iTunes account settings. Once more, try logging in with a different account. If this doesn’t work, contact the service provider directly.
