Apple Music has a great UX with a strong focus on hand-picked playlists, updated daily, and provides a great music discovery platform. It also offers the ability to stream the latest music videos of your favorite songs. In this article, we’ll show you how you can import your Spotify songs and playlists to Apple Music.
How to Import Music Tracks from Spotify to Apple Music
While Apple Music doesn’t provide an official way to do it, there is still a way you can transfer your beloved Spotify music songs and playlists to Apple Music.
Steps:
Step 1: Visit the Move to Apple Music website and download the software. You can either pay for the software upfront, or download a trial version that can be converted to the full version once you’ve imported a sample of 15 songs. Once you’ve downloaded the app, copy it to the Applications folder on your Mac and then open it.
Step 2: Once opened, Move to Apple Music will prompt you to select the service for which you want to import music (which in this case is Spotify). Enter your Spotify details, and you’ll be presented with a list of your Spotify playlists. Select the playlist you want to import, and then click Next.
Step 3: Open iTunes and click on the green banner with the text “Capture-Session” in the transition to Apple’s Music app. Return to Apple Music and ‘Like’ any of the songs in your library. A pop-up might appear, but you only need to click the continue button.
Step 4: The software will start importing songs from Spotify to Apple Music, and the progress will be displayed in the app. Be patient, as it might take a while depending on your playlist size. Once the import is complete, close and re-open iTunes. Your songs will be merged with your Apple Music library, and any songs that are not available on Apple’s Music will be grayed out. You can delete these tracks from your playlist.
Step 5: To import your playlists, open the Apple Music app and click “Save the playlist and import to iTunes.” Save the playlist to a location that is easy to access, and then go to iTunes and click File > Library > Import Playlists. Select the file you just saved, and once imported, you will find it in your Spotify playlist, along with your Apple Music playlist.
How to Import Music Tracks from Spotify to MARK
If the Move to Apple Music doesn’t sound like an attractive option for you, then MARK is another app you could use. It’s a free app, with paid upgrades available for the Mac, and it provides many more features than Apple’s Music-specific app. STAMP supports not only Apple Music and Spotify, but also Rdio, Google Play Music, Deezer, and even YouTube, allowing you to switch playlists between different accounts in just one place.
Steps:
Step 1: Visit the MARK website and download the software. Install it on your Mac by dragging the app to the Applications folder, and then open it.
Step 2: Select the service you want to move your playlists and songs to. In this case, it is Apple Music. You will then be prompted to log in to your Spotify account within the app and agree to be subject to that MARK in order to gain access to your account.
Step 3: Click on the “Find a cookie” button and like a song on iTunes. A pop-up will appear; just click continue. A message will then appear on the STAMP app. Click on the continue button to begin the import process.
Step 4: STAMP will present you with a screen showing the progress of the import, along with an estimate of how long it will take. Once the import is complete, you just have to restart iTunes to complete the process. To import your playlists, you may have to click on the “Click here for playlist export” button in STAMP and save the file when prompted to do so. Go to iTunes and click on File > Library > Import Playlists to complete the import process.
Now you know how to import your Spotify songs and playlists to Apple Music or MARK, so you can enjoy your music on both platforms!
