This article will show you how to maximize an iTunes miniplayer on Windows and Mac. Apple has done some weird and great things in the past, and it has also done some things that make no sense at all. Consider the MiniPlayer from iTunes (now called Music). It’s a great way to keep track of the music and other material being played in a compact interface, but if you’re new to the Mac, you’ve probably already found that it’s not immediately clear how to switch back to the full-size player.
The iTunes MiniPlayer is a great way to get to your iTunes or Apple Music files quickly on your Mac without having to open a huge window. It makes it easy to change the song you’re listening to, skip or rewind, play or stop, and even see what you’ve been listening to in the past. How to maximize an iTunes miniplayer on Windows and Mac
Open MiniPlayer in iTunes
On a Mac, the iTunes MiniPlayer is like a small version of iTunes that only shows what you need to see right now. You can control audio and volume, see what song is next, and mark a song as a favourite. You’ll have to go back to the full iTunes page if you want to see more.
- Open iTunes.
- Play a song.
- While music is playing, hover over the album art in the playback controls at the top center of the iTunes window. The MiniPlayer button will appear.
- Click on the MiniPlayer.
- Click on the Hide Artwork icon on the left side of the MiniPlayer to further reduce the size.
Set MiniPlayer on top of everything
By default, the MiniPlayer will be on your screen. When you open new windows, like a web browser, word processor, or other programme, it will stay in the background. But you can change that by hand.
- Open iTunes.
- Select iTunes from the menu bar on the far left side of your Mac’s screen.
- Click on Preferences.
- Click on Advanced.
- Check the box next to Keep MiniPlayer on top of all other windows.
- Click OK.
Exit MiniPlayer and go back to full iTunes window
You want to go back to the tracks that were put together by experts, but you can’t seem to get out of the MiniPlayer window? Don’t worry, we’ll take care of you.
- Hover over the MiniPlayer to reveal the controls.
- Click on the X in the upper left corner of the window.
- The full iTunes window will appear.
