The AnkerWork B600 Video Bar is a high-quality webcam, but its goals are different from what I’m used to seeing. This camera doesn’t have a 4K resolution or an onboard processor. Instead, it has a 1440p sensor that isn’t as powerful, but it’s made up for by an impressively powerful and customizable light bar, a built-in speaker, AI auto-framing, a powerful app for managing detailed settings, and touch controls on the camera itself for making quick changes to broader settings.

When you combine all of these features with the fairly standard but still notable four built-in mics, you have a strong all-in-one conferencing solution. Many video chats and streaming services don’t support such a high quality, so these features might be more useful on the best webcams than 4K.

Once you get over how big the device is (it’s just over 18cm or 7 inches long), the next thing you’ll notice is how sturdy it is and how well-made the fabric cover is. There are two USB-C connectors on the back, which makes it a little strange to join. (one for power, one for data, clearly marked).

But the zoom isn’t optical, so a 2K image at 95 crops to 1080P at 78, and by the time you get down to 65, the 720P resolution looks noticeably softer on a big screen. This means that, while the auto tracking is good, it can also make the image look softer.

When we saw the B600 for the first time in January, we wondered if AnkerWork had made the all-in-one webcam two years too late.
