Disney+ review: is it worth the price?

Welcome to my Disney Plus review. I’ve been impressed by Disney’s subscription streaming service for years. Disney’s streaming service is great value with 4K HDR streaming and a large library. This has been especially helpful since they introduced the ad-based version in the US, which raised the basic subscription price. You can pay $7.99 per month with advertisements or $10.99 (AU$13.99 / £7.99) without ads. I uncovered a terrific money-saving alternative for long-term customers: an annual payment discount.

Multiple profiles are one of my favorite Disney+ features. For families with various watching tastes, it’s handy and lets everyone watch their favorite shows without interrupting. I’ve also found that downloading episodes for offline viewing has changed my travel experience, especially on long flights or in regions with poor internet.

Disney+ began slowly but has grown into something remarkable. I’m a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan, so the addition of new movies and series like She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel is intriguing. I’m also like Star Wars spin-offs like Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi and exploring the galaxy far, far away. Disney+ has many Pixar films, excellent for family movie nights, and a wealth of Star and National Geographic TV programming, which are instructive and amusing.

Disney+ now offers diverse material. I promise there’s something for everyone. Disney+ features everything from fantasy shows like Willow to gritty spy dramas like The Old Man, Golden Globe-nominated murder mystery comedy series like Only Murders in the Building, and old favorites like Die Hard and The Simpsons.

What does Disney Plus include?

At the moment, Disney+ has hundreds of movies and TV shows related to Disney. There are old animated movies like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Pinocchio, new Disney Channel movies like Descendants, old live-action movies like The Parent Trap and Old Yeller, forgotten oddities like the made-for-TV Fuzzbucket, a huge collection of Marvel cartoons from the 1990s, almost every Star Wars movie, Pixar movies, and a lot, a lot more. Even though most Marvel movies are on the service, you can’t watch some MCU movies on Disney+ because they have licensing deals with other services like Netflix. Some movies, like all of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man flicks and The Incredible Hulk, are not yet out.

Disney+ review: Design And User Interface

If you’ve ever used Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, you’ll be familiar with the style and user interface of Disney Plus. The service is very similar to that of its competitors. It is essentially just row after row of content that has been categorized according to its origin, streaming quality, and various other characteristics.

The emblems of Disney’s major brands may be found in a dynamic banner that provides direct links to the films and shows associated with those companies. The top row of the banner is dedicated to featured material, such as Pinocchio, Prey, and The Simpsons. Under the brand banners, you’ll discover a section called Originals that showcases content that is unique to the service. Below that, you’ll notice a recommended row that looks very similar to one that you’ve probably seen on a streaming service like Netflix.

Disney+ review: Parental Controls And Group watch

Since launch, Disney Plus has included parental control and the ability to view movies and TV shows with friends and family. Start with parental restrictions. Parents and guardians can block R-rated or explicit content on Disney Plus. After you subscribe to Disney Plus and access the app for the first time, you’ll be asked to adjust a user’s content rating if they’re 14–18. Choose 14+ to hide mature content from teens, and you can add a PIN number to that profile to prevent teens from accessing R-rated content.

You can even create a ‘kids’ profile that only exposes U-rated content to users under 14. Teen and adult content won’t appear. Disney Plus’ ‘Kid Proof Exit’ function prevents kids from leaving their kid-specific profile without answering a question you choose. So they can’t unintentionally click away from their profile and access yours.

Disney+ review: Impressive video and audio quality

Dolby Vision is a dynamic version of high dynamic range (HDR) that offers evolving content to connected TVs to extract the best contrast out of each picture. In addition, Disney+ offers certain material in Dolby Atmos, which provides an immersive, hemispheric soundstage for those with supporting hardware. Dolby Vision is gaining popularity, but Dolby Vision and Atmos are still very uncommon in the streaming world. Only a select few services, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Apple TV+, support these formats, and they are only available on a small percentage of material that is always expanding.

The availability of Disney’s Star Wars movies, including the special versions of the original trilogy that were released in the 1990s, in 4K with Dolby Vision and Atmos compatibility is one of the most enticing elements of the 4K content that Disney+ offers, at least for aficionados of the Star Wars franchise. Due to this, Disney+ is the only service that allows users to watch these movies in their respective formats.

Final Words

When I tried Disney+ for the first time, I felt like it wasn’t quite ready for prime time yet. It held some potential for me, but it didn’t fully live up to it. Over the course of just three years, though, it has become an essential streaming service, especially for families like mine. Disney+ is a very appealing choice because it has a huge library of high-quality material, including exclusive shows from popular franchises like Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s not too expensive.

No words can describe how strongly I urge you to try this service, especially since it’s not expensive. You can watch Marvel movies, the Skywalker Saga in beautiful 4K, or old-school Disney animated movies that you love. This collection has something for the whole family to enjoy for at least a month, if not longer.
