Getac ZX10: Design
The Getac ZX10 looks and feels like a black polymer plastic slab that can’t be broken. Over the hard plastic shell is a thick, strong frame made of magnesium alloy. The display is set back from the front, likely to protect it from direct hits. On the back, there are also holes for the pen and the batteries. Dozens of small Philips screws on the outside hold everything together and give it an industrial look.
Like the Getac rugged computers we looked at, we threw it around and ran water over it, but it still worked. The ZX10 is marked IP66 and meets MIL-STD-810H. It is made to handle dust, dirt, wet situations, and drops of up to six feet. IP66 means it can take a straight hit from a hose or any amount of rain, but it’s not made to be completely submerged. Getac ZX10: Display
Direct sunlight does not affect the visibility of the 10.1-inch IPS TFT LCD HD (1280 x 800) LumiBond 2.0 display that comes standard on the Getac ZX10. This display also supports multiple touches. The touch panel, LCD screen, and protective glass are bonded together using a technology called LumiBond, which makes the display more durable. This results in a single panel that is easier to read in bright environments and outside, in addition to being more durable overall.
Touching the display in various ways, such as pinching to zoom in or swiping to scroll, allows users to engage in a variety of interactions with the display. In addition, the screen includes a covering that eliminates reflections, making it much simpler to read even in bright environments.
Getac ZX10: Audio
The tablet’s speakers are housed behind a grille in the display’s lower right corner. The sound quality is subpar, but we didn’t expect a boombox out of it. The volume is adequate, but there is a distinct lack of bass and depth to the sound. It could be difficult to hear the other person on video calls. A pair of wireless earbuds or noise-cancelling headphones from their best lists would be what we recommend.
Software and Warranty
The Getac ZX10 is already equipped with Android 11, and it functions flawlessly. Getac has its own camera app and a device management tool of its own. The batteries can be removed one at a time, and their respective statuses are displayed in the upper right corner of the screen. This allows you to keep the Getac ZX10 operational for longer periods of time by simply carrying spare parts and swapping them out as necessary. For individuals who need even more runtime between charges, Getac also provides high-capacity 9980mAh batteries.
The basic batteries only provided a middling amount of power. Two fully charged batteries were depleted to 50% and 49% after watching YouTube for three hours, whereas the tablet lasted 8 hours and 14 minutes on the PCMark for Android Work 3.0 battery life benchmark. In-vehicle charging, spare regular batteries, or high-capacity batteries may be necessary for field personnel.
