The Honor 90 Lite was released in the midst of something of a resurgence for low-cost mobile devices. Not that long ago, low-cost smartphones struggled to keep up with the demands of 3D games, had very little storage space, and were saddled with cameras of poor quality and low resolution. However, recent champions at more accessible price points have changed the narrative, and the £249/€300 Honor 90 Lite solidifies this transition.
The snappy performance is a result of the power provided by the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 processor, which is assisted with a competent 100MP camera. The enormous amount of storage space of 256 GB is the clincher. Following its separation from Huawei, the formerly sub-brand Honor has demonstrated that it possesses the capabilities necessary to prosper as the star of the show. This was made clear by the outstanding performance of the Honor Magic 5 Pro.

Honor 90 Lite: Design

When viewed from the front, the Honor 90 Lite appears to be quite unremarkable due to its flat sides, huge screen that is low on bezels, and rounded corners. However, when viewed from the rear, its shimmering back panel combined with those cropped-circle camera bumps help it stand out from the crowd. There are three color options available for the 90 Lite: black, silver, and cyan.
The cyan model that we examined has a unique diffuse sheen, giving the impression that its plastic back is halfway between glass and metal. We initially thought it was a little flashy, but after some time, we came to really enjoy it. The matte frame of the phone is adorned with a USB-C port located at the bottom, a power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner, and a volume rocker located on the right side of the device. The SIM card tray for the 90 Lite is located on the left side of the device.
Honor 90 Lite: Display
When you turn on the Honor 9 Lite, its 5.65-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2,160 by 1,080 immediately shines out. This is the first time that Honor has produced a phone that has a screen that covers the entire front of the device. Although it is the most affordable 18:9 phone currently available, the design is top-notch. It features a pixel density of 428 PPI, which is sharp enough for even the most discerning eyes, and the contrast ratio is more than good enough, producing images that really pop out against the background. The point with the highest brightness is 504cd/m2, which is suitable for usage in direct sunshine.
Honor 90 Lite: Cameras

The Honor 90 Lite features a primary camera with a resolution of 100 megapixels and an aperture of 1.9 millimeters. On either side of this primary camera are two additional cameras with resolutions of 2 megapixels each. The utility of any of the two 2MP cameras is up for debate, and the ultra-wide angle camera is not going to blow your mind. Thankfully, the 100-megapixel primary camera has a lot of potential.
The default setting for the primary camera captures images at an impressively high resolution of 25 megapixels, with Honor merging four of the sensor’s pixels into a single complete picture. It is fortunate that the Honor 90 Lite has a large amount of storage available given that the average size of a picture is between 5 and 8 megabytes.
Honor 90 Lite: Performance and Software
Because of its consistent performance and fluid software experience, the Honor 90 Lite is a dependable option for doing jobs that are performed on a daily basis. Its competent processor and adequate random access memory (RAM) allow it to handle program usage and multitasking with relative ease. The device is powered by the user-friendly EMUI software developed by Honor, which provides a streamlined and straightforward user experience. It provides a wide array of functionality and customization possibilities, such as a selection of different app layouts and themes to choose from. Additionally, the software includes practical applications, such as gesture navigation and an effective battery management system.
Honor 90 Lite: Battery Life
As is common for phones in this price range, the battery capacity of the Honor 90 Lite is 4,500mAh. This is because many phones in this price range come with larger batteries than some higher end versions. The battery life of a less powerful phone, on the other hand, is typically better. This is due in part to the fact that the owner of such a phone is less likely to play games that are processor and screen intensive, or to use the camera for extended periods of time.
Final Words
There are obvious trade-offs made in order to make this the least expensive Honor 90 model. Both the Honor 90 and Pro have improved megapixel sensors, with the Pro also featuring a specialized telephoto lens. Enhanced Wi-Fi and stereo sound are just the beginning; the battery life, charging time, and screen quality will also get upgrades. However, the Pro version’s pricing will be significantly more to accommodate all those extra features.
Honor 90 Lite review: The good and The bad
The 16-megapixel front-facing camera is a solid performer, shooting shots that are pleasing with a level of beautifying that is small but still quite pleasant.
The Good
- Decent main camera
- Day-long battery
The Bad
- No 4K video capture
Questions and Answers
In our standby test, it survived for a whopping 52 days. Thanks in large part to its exceptional conversation time results, the received a One Charge Rating of 15 hours and 48 minutes.
The Honor 50 Lite is powered by a Snapdragon 662 processor with 6 GB of RAM, which is a bit obsolete at this point. While generally responsive, the system occasionally stutters, and the low refresh rate prevents buttery scrolling.
