And yet, once you load up your favourite games, the Omen 30L runs them beautifully, with smooth frame rates and high resolutions. With an Nvidia 3080 GPU, an Intel Core i9 processor, and 32 GB of RAM, this machine can do almost anything, from word processing and music to graphic design and video playback. It can also fully immerse you in demanding single- and multiplayer games.

HP Omen 30L review: Design
The HP Omen 30L Gaming Desktop is a gorgeous machine. It might be the best-looking gaming desktop I’ve ever looked at. It has a strong black chassis, an eye-catching front, and a nice glass side panel. The front of the machine is made of glass and has a coloured LED diamond and coloured LED fan lightin.
The side of the machine lets you see the beautiful RGB components inside. On the sides, there are many holes for airflow, but they look more like artistic choices than mechanical necessities. You can buy this desktop pc from its official website.

Of course, if you can buy a new GPU for what it costs on the market, building your own PC will probably be a bit cheaper overall. You won’t be able to get the custom Omen case, which is one of our favourite parts of this machine. Even though some of the internals are a little rough around the edges, this pre-built gaming system is hard to beat. Keep doing what you’re doing, HP, but next time leave the tape in the toolbox.
HP Omen 30L review: Performance
We were worried about how well it would cool. Given how many parts are inside, the single fan that brings air in has to work hard, and the 10-core CPU is only cooled by a 120mm radiator. Even though the liquid cooling system for the CPU often sounds like a jet engine, the system keeps running well even when you play for a long time.
In our PCMark 10 test, the processor also keeps a steady boost clock of around 4.9GHz and stable temperatures. Still, we tested it in a controlled setting, and it might not work as well in a hot room. We also hear what sounds like coil whine, but only when the system is spitting out 500–1,000 frames per second, as it does in the 3DMark Night Raid benchmark.
HP Omen 30L review: Gaming and Graphics Performance
At $2,199 as tested, the iBuypower RDY IWBG207 is the desktop that most directly competes with the Omen. It features a Core i9-10900KF processor (essentially the same as in the Omen but without integrated graphics) and an RTX 3080 for that price. It’s worth noting that the iBuypower computer has 16GB less RAM and 1TB less storage capacity than our Omen.
Because to the Omen’s somewhat poor performance, especially at 1080p, and our familiarity with the 10900K CPU’s high thermals, we thought that its 120 mm AIO wasn’t doing a good job of keeping the CPU as cool as the competition.
HP Omen 30L review: Price and availability
But the Radeon RX 5700 XT is a great GPU choice for a mid-range machine, and the price for this Omen build seems about right. We wouldn’t be surprised if, by the end of the year, HP updated the same Omen chassis with Zen 3 CPUs and GeForce RTX 3000 series GPUs, but those will be more expensive. If you need more space, you can add up to 2TB to the NVMe storage that is already included.
Final Words
Even though some of its accessories and software aren’t the best, the HP Omen 30L Gaming Desktop is a beautiful thing. It’s beautiful, quiet, and strong. It’s also very expensive, and it can be hard to know which one to buy, so if it sounds like the right gaming rig for you, be ready to do some research. The Corsair Vengeance i7200 might be a more powerful machine for about the same price, and it’s also a very nice-looking machine.
