HyperX Cloud Earbuds Review Design
The first thing to mention about the HyperX Cloud Earbuds is their design, and they’re not bad-looking earbuds. In a world of wireless headphones, these are a wired set — but for hard-core gamers, the wired form-factor has its advantages, like a lack of latency and more authenticity. The headphones come in red color, and that’s the only color option — so if you’re looking for a little more subtle, you may have to opt for another earbud. The earbuds themselves are a bit differently-shaped than what you’ll find on other earbuds. The y’re designed to stay in your ears — which is quite helpful.
Part-way down the left side of the cable, you’ll find a small single-button for controlling the media. We would have preferred for HyperX to use a more modern three-button layout — after all, as it is easy to control volume while you’re gaming, and the fact is that people will use them for listening to music. In the box, apart from the earbuds themselves, you’ll find a decent case, along with three pairs of ear tips, including the one that comes pre-installed on the earbuds.
Comfort
As mentioned earlier, the earbuds on the HyperX Cloud Earphones are slightly different in shape than what you’d expect on other pairs of earbuds. In the end, however, they’re comfortable. They sit nicely in your ear, and we saw that even with quick movements, they never fell out. We were able to use the HyperX Cloud Earbuds for hours without them getting uncomfortable, which isn’t necessarily typical for in-ear headphones.

Ultimately, an essential thing to consider about these earbuds is how they sound, and despite the comparatively low price-tag, they sound pretty good — with a few quirks. Let’s start with the bass, which is generally stable, though it doesn’t extend quite as deep as some might like. For things like explosions and gunshots in gaming, it’s able to provide a relatively full-bodied sound, and in music, we found that kick drums were able to shine through relatively well.
The mids have some tuning to it. The low-mids are relatively warm, but we found that they seemed to be overshadowed by a tremendous mid boost. That’s good when you’re listening to the voices of your teammates, but a little much when you’re looking to music. The high-ends again is a little overshadowed by the high mids. There are some clarity and detail to go around, which is nice, but we could have used a bit more extension and a little more detail too.

The HyperX Cloud Earbuds are a great option to go for those that need a pair of earbuds to use on the go. The y’re well designed and sound excellent, plus they’re surprisingly comfortable and come at a decent price tag. But are they The Best alternative in the $50 price category? In short, yes. Sound quality indeed leaves a little to have aspired, but at this value, you can’t certainly do much better. It’s clear, however, that HyperX has given a bunch of attention to detail to the earbuds, plus they come with a substantial range of accessories.
