True wireless earbuds have come a long way. Today, there are several excellent options for most people, but for audio lovers, there are only a handful of real wireless headphones that excel in sound. Today the Klipsch T5 True Wireless earbuds can join that list, thanks to its stellar sound quality and long battery life. Sure, the Klipsch T5 is still expensive at $199, but stacked against The Best genuine wireless earphones, the Klipsch stand their own. This is our Klipsch T5 True Wireless Review.
Since the Klipsch T5s were launched at the beginning, the brand has announced a new pair of true wireless earplugs; the Klipsch T10 create AI gesture controls and active noise cancellation and cost an eye-watering $649.
Klipsch T5 True Wireless Review: Design
The first thing you notice about the Klipsch T5 True Wireless is that their aluminum charging case is shaped like a Zippo lighter. That’s no coincidence because that’s precisely what the designers go for. If you fold up the top of the case, you’ll be greeted with the headphones, which are turned upside down with the magnets to prevent a drop from accidentally falling. The case feels incredibly firm in your hand, and it’s addictive just to open and close the top.
It’s a pity that Klipsch didn’t bring a carrying case to protect the beautiful brushed finish, so expect the case to catch kinks and scratches over time. In terms of functions, the charging case is equipped with USB-C fast charging and three white LEDs that show the capacity of the case. The headphones themselves are less impressive than the charging case with a large earplug, a long sound tube, and a single button on each earplug.
As a result, the headphones protrude deep into the ear, which is great for passive sound insulation, which is excellent, but some may be uncomfortable. Klipsch contains only small, medium, and large tips inside the box, so finding an ideal fit is difficult. One of the reasons we have the tips is how fragile they are: One of the earplugs broke off in the earphones, so we had to take it out with sharp tweezers. We hope Klipsch can redesign the earplugs without the small plastic clip that can quickly get stuck in the earphones.
Klipsch T5 True Wireless Review: Performance
The Klipsch T5 True Wireless features the distinctive Klipsch sound, which is warm, detailed, and never rough. That doesn’t mean that the Klipsch is neutral, but they are just closer to neutral than the Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless when it comes to bass. Mids are where the Klipsch shine, making vocals shine like acoustic music; those favors mids are lush and detailed. The detail also extends to the high, allowing the headphones to sing in the higher registers without ever being rough.
The soundstage is good, but not groundbreaking because music has a good sense of width and height. It’s not open-back headphones quality, but it’s surprising for the form factor. The imaging is also excellent, allowing individual instruments to be accurately located.
Battery Life
The battery life is 8 hours per charge, with a 24-hour extension of the case. When testing music playback at 50% volume, 7 hours per charge was found, and the case gives three additional recharges, no problem. These are earplugs that can last an entire flight from New York to San Francisco. In terms of wireless stability, the Klipsch is excellent, with an exceptionally long range and reliability. In our few weeks of testing, we have only noticed a few noise glitches.
Conclusion
The y’re not cheap, but the T5 stands up to the top of the line of real wireless headphones like the Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless and Master & Dynamic MW07. For a third less cost, the T5 has better sound than the MW07 and better battery life than both competitors. While the Sennheisers remain the champion in sound quality, the Klipsch T5 comes very close. Looking for more options? Check our list of The Best True Wireless Earbuds
