Lenovo ThinkPad T460s Review: The system of business-class notebook PCs used to observe an easy rule: You’ll be able to have a highly effective notebook with lots of ports, or you’ll be able to have a thin and light-weight notebook … however, you can’t have both at the identical time. That old notion might simply be a subject of history thanks to the Lenovo ThinkPad T460s. This business-class Ultrabook is 0.09 inches thinner and 0.8 pounds lighter than last year’s effective ThinkPad T450s and still manages to deliver excellent efficiency for a 14-inch business laptop. Unfortunately, the new ThinkPad T460s only manages that impressive weight loss by dropping its predecessor’s in-class battery life. Maintain reading to find out if a weaker built-in battery is a fair price for a notebook with a more travel-friendly measurement.

Lenovo ThinkPad T460s Design
The ThinkPad T460s has the identical stylish however simple matte black aesthetic as most of Lenovo’s other business laptops. It’s only dashes of color are offered by the red power light in the logo and the red TrackPoint pointing stick toward its keyboard. At 3 pounds and 13 x 8.9 x 74 inches, the T460s just a little thinner and much lighter than its 2015 predecessor, ThinkPad T450s (13 x 8.9 x 0.83 inches, 3.8 pounds).
Lenovo ThinkPad T460s Keyboard, TrackPoint, and TouchPad
Lenovo’s ThinkPad keyboards become a well-deserved reputation as one for the Best in the industry, because of their strong tactile suggestions, deep travel, sturdy base and large, smile-shaped keys.
If you need a more efficient and accurate navigation tool, the T460s has a TrackPoint pointing stick in between the H and G keys. Using the little red nub, I could navigate Windows, scroll down Web pages and highlight text with nice precision whereas keeping my hands on the home row for touch typing.
The 3.9 x 2.2-inch, buttonless touchpad offered accurate navigation around the desktop, with simply the right amount of conflict on its matte surface and none of the jumpiness we have seen on many different laptops.
Lenovo ThinkPad T460s Display
The ThinkPad T460s’ 1920 x 1080, 14.1-inch touch screen provided sharp photos, accurate colors, wide viewing angles. When I saw a 1080p trailer for Captain America: Civil War, fine features such as the ridges in Captain America’s helmet or the lines in Steve Rogers’ forehead looked quite clear.
Lenovo ThinkPad T460s Graphics and Audio
You shouldn’t assume to play games or do serious CAD modeling with the ThinkPad T460s and its built-in Intel HD Graphics 520 GPU, however, Lenovo’s laptop is more than capable of playing movies or editing images and short movies.
The T460s provides a few of the richest audio I’ve listened from a business notebook. When I played both AC/DC’s guitar- and percussion-heavy “Back in Black” and Patrice Rushen’s bass-heavy “Forget Me Nots,” I could hear a clear division of sound between the right and left speakers, with vocals on one side and impact on another.
Lenovo ThinkPad T460s Hardware and Performance
With its 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD and 2.5-GHz Intel Core i5-6300U, our review configuration of the ThinkPad T460s provided strong efficiency that was more than enough for any mainstream productivity task.
On Geekbench 3, a manufactured benchmark that measures overall performance, the ThinkPad T460s scored a solid 6,796, which is easily forward of the category average (6,271) and slightly better than the Core i5-6200U-enabled ThinkPad X1 Yoga (6,465).
Lenovo ThinkPad T460s Battery Life
At first look, the battery inside the Lenovo ThinkPad T460s does a nice job delivering battery life just like the standard, removable 3-cell battery in the older T450s.
Lenovo ThinkPad T460s Configuration Options
Like most ThinkPads, Lenovo allows you to configure the T460s to order on its website. The $980 base model has an Intel Core i5-6200U, 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and a 1080p non-touch screen. Our $1,353 review configuration came with an 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SATA SSD, Windows 10 Pro, Core i5-6300U CPU and a 1080p touch screen.

Conclusion
The T460s is a fully new construction with an even lighter and thinner chassis. Its stability and build quality can easily meet the high expectations we’ve for a notebook with a price far north of 1,000 Euros (~$1110). The identical applies for the input devices: If you’re looking for a keyboard with a rich pressure point, it is going to be difficult to find a better alternative right now. The touchpad/ClickPad might not be quite on the identical stage. However, the efficiency is still stable in combination with the TrackPoint.
