It’s no secret that classrooms have gone digital. The pens, pencils and lined notebooks of yesteryear have been consolidated, digitized and repurposed into the tablets and Chromebooks found in your child’s classroom. Now, a child’s success is largely based on the digital tools at their disposal, which is what makes the Logitech Pen ($65) so captivating.
Compatible with the Universal Stylus Initiative, the Logitech Pen is an impressive input device with a long battery life and a comfortable, ergonomic design that fits hands of all ages and sizes, making it the perfect companion for Chromebook students.

Logitech Pen review: Design and Features

While not as sleek and sexy as the Apple Pencil, the triangular body of the Logitech Pen feels good to hold and use. Logitech says its engineers worked with young students to create an ergonomically optimized design that is comfortable in hands ranging in age from 6 to 17.
The large, colorful, non-slip silicone grip offers additional support, while the pen tip is durable and replaceable. (Logitech also has a competitor to the Apple Pencil, dubbed Crayon, with a slightly different design than the Pen and available for consumers and the educational market.) You can buy this pen from its official website.
Logitech Pen review: Performance
Drawbacks aside, we’re impressed with the performance of the Logitech Pen. As an educational tool, the pen is versatile and useful, provided the classroom is equipped with USI-certified Chromebooks. As a general-purpose tool, it’s a great introduction for younger tablet users who are developing their motor skills. If you’re an active Chromebook user looking for an input device tailored to your machine of choice, you won’t go wrong either.
Logitech Pen review: Battery Life

Convenience means you’re more likely to remember to use the stylus outside of doodling, and if you’re using it for art or handwriting notes, you can hold it and use it comfortably for hours. Logitech claims you’ll get 15 days of “normal school use,” which equates to about 2-4 hours of active use and another 3-5 hours of semi-active use, but if you run out of battery, one of the Logitech Pen’s best features comes to the fore.
Say goodbye to AAAA batteries, kiddo; the Logitech Pen charges with the same USB-C Power Delivery charger as your Chromebook. In fact, Logitech doesn’t even bother putting a cable in the bag; you can literally use any USB-C charger you have on hand, from the 45W charger your Chromebook comes with to a Snickers-sized 5000 mAh power bank you use to keep your phone alive on extra-long days.
Logitech Pen review: Price and availability
The worst thing about the Logitech Pen is that it will initially only be available through education channels, which means we regular consumers will have to wait a bit longer to buy one. Announced on January 18, 2022, the Logitech Pen will launch through Logitech Education Channels and education reseller partners for $65, and the device will ship in April 2022.
Final Words
The Apple Pencil is too expensive, you should take a look at the Logitech Crayon. It works great and connects instantly to an iPad. It has some of the same features as the more expensive styluses. It’s easy to hold and the battery life is also very good. Although it doesn’t come with a charging cable, this shouldn’t be a big deal for most iPad owners.
But if you want something smaller and easier to carry around, you might not like the Logitech Crayon. This is also clearly for iPad users; if you have a Windows or Android tablet, this isn’t for you. You won’t be able to use almost any of its features, plus you’d have to buy a separate Lightning cable.
