MSI has a history of concentrating on specialized subsets of the laptop industry, such as workstations and gaming systems; but, the company does produce a few designs that have a far wider appeal. The MSI Modern 15 B12M is a system that has the potential to fall within the price range of many potential buyers of laptops.
It is not necessarily intended just for commercial purchasers. On the other hand, the Modern series may be found within the MSI Business & Productivity collection. It utilizes the most recent mobile platform from Intel and comes equipped with a huge display that is both brilliant and attractive.

MSI Modern 15 review: Design

MSI says the Modern 15 laptop is “ultra-slim” and “ultra-light.” But that may be a stretch, since it is 20mm thick and weighs 1.7kg. For a gaming laptop, that’s thin and light, but for a regular laptop like this, Not really. But we think MSI’s approach to this “normal” style is just right. Even though this laptop is made of plastic, we don’t think it looks much less sleek than the much more expensive MSI Summit E16 Flip Evo. Its keyboard plate and lid are both made of smooth black plastic. This can sometimes feel cheap, but it doesn’t in this case because the finish is almost soft. The screen and bottom part are also great because they are rigid.
MSI Modern 15: Screen and Battery
Many people would be turned off by these things, but I’ve found some ultra-bright 15.6-inch OLED screens to be much more frustrating than the Modern 15’s. Even though the low pixel density of 1080p at 15.6 inches makes it hard to see the structure of the pixels, there are none that stand out. And the 1300:1 contrast is the best you could ask for in an LCD laptop. You can buy this laptop from its official website
MSI Modern 15: Performance

Intel used to separate mobile systems into the U series for general use and the H series for high performance. With the Alder Lake chips, they’ve added a third, the P series, which sits between the U and H series and offers a balance between speed and power efficiency. As its name suggests, the i7-1255U chip is part of the U Series, which is made to get the most out of power rather than speed. All of the mobile 12th Gen chips that have been released so far are either Core i7 or Core i9. The i7-1255U is one of the lower-end designs with ten cores (2 performance, 8 economy), and it can handle 12 threads.
Final Words
The Modern 15 has some good features, like buttery-smooth speed and good build quality, but at AED 4,829, it’s a bit pricey. It has to compete with ultraportable computers like the MacBook Air or the ASUS UX425J, which we tested here. This puts it in a difficult price range for most users especially considering the cons tip the scale in the competition’s way. If the price came down and the problems were fixed, I’m sure the Modern could be a strong contender in the mid-range space and easily beat the competition.
