In an effort to diversify away from its primary focus on gaming laptops, MSI has released the MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo. The Summit E14 Flip Evo is a 2-in-1 laptop that may be used as a traditional laptop or folded in half and used with the included stylus for note taking, drawing, or photo editing.
This laptop stands out as a powerful work machine in part because to its hybrid nature. The Summit E14 Flip Evo is a rare exception to the trend of mediocre performance between the two modes of a 2-in-1 device. This laptop may not be as convenient as an iPad for watching movies or TV shows, but it is ideal for other tasks such as filling out forms, making notes on documents, and altering existing information.

MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo: Design

The MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo boasts a style that is both sophisticated and fashionable, with an aluminum chassis finished in a color called “Ink Black” that looks very remarkable. It is not simply black; there is a bit of a gloss to it, which gives the color a wonderful amount of vibrancy. The keys have a straightforward appearance with a plain font and do not contain an excessive number of symbols.
The screen has a golden ratio of 16:10, which is an improvement over displays with a 16:9 aspect ratio as a result of the additional vertical height. The pressure-sensitive MSI pen that is supplied with this laptop is one of the most notable design characteristics of this device. It has the ability to charge through USB-C and can store itself by magnetically attaching to the bottom left side of the computer.
Display and audio
The Summit E14 Flip from MSI is available with your choice of a 16:10 Full HD+ (1,920 x 1,200) IPS display or a 16:10 2.8K (2,880 x 1,800) IPS display. The latter was included in the review unit I received, and I found it to be pleasingly vivid without being overwhelming. Overall, it was a pleasant enough screen to use, with blacks that appeared sufficiently deep for an IPS display. We put it through a more rigorous test using my SpyderX colorimeter, and it passed with flying colors. With a DeltaE of 1.10, the colors were spot-on, covering 100% of sRGB, 89% of AdobeRGB, and 99% of DCI-P3.
The contrast ratio of 1,320:1 was excellent (we prefer to see 1,000:1 or above), and the brightness level of 516 nits was excellent in comparison to our minimum requirement of 300 nits. These outcomes are superior to those of the other IPS screens we compared them against, but not quite on par with the OLEDs. Two speakers located at the chassis’s base produce standard audio with unmistakable highs and mids but no bass. However, the volume is never deafening.
MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo: Performance

The 12th generation of Intel’s mobile CPUs is probably old hat at this point, but I’ll go through the essentials for the uninitiated. This system features Intel P-series processors, which fall in between the company’s high-power H-series chips seen in gaming laptops and its low-power U-series CPUs found in much thinner and lighter devices. I included this 28-watt processor because it is found in several competitive 2-in-1s.
My evaluation unit has an Intel Core i7-1260P processor. It features a Turbo boost speed of 4.70 GHz and 12 cores (4 efficiency, 8 performance). Additionally, 32GB of RAM is included. We believe this Intel CPU contributes greatly to the MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo’s excellent performance. It never slowed down once while I was using Microsoft Edge with a random assortment of ten or more tabs on a 4K monitor for work.
Pricing and availability
As of right now, you can purchase the MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo from Newegg, Best Buy, Micro Center, Ant Online, and Amazon. There is a wide selection of machines available, some of which have the latest 12-generation Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 processors. There are 16GB and 32GB of RAM and storage capacities ranging from 1TB to 512GB PCIe.
The base price for this convertible is $1,400, but it will rise when you add more memory and a faster processor. The Intel Core i7-1260P processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD were all premium additions to my machine. The price on Newegg is $1,700. When you upgrade to an Intel Core i7 processor, you’ll also receive extra RAM and a larger solid-state drive (SSD).
Final words
The MSI Summit E14 Flip Evo seems like it might do well as a business laptop, as it could be useful in a variety of situations and workflows. The device’s ability to smoothly transition between different use cases is its defining characteristic.

Questions and Answers
In general, the MSI Summit E16 Flip is a great tablet. It’s an attractive, well-constructed device with a stunning screen that can serve as a tablet when not in use or a laptop when you need to get work done.
The MSI lasted about two hours in the PCMark 10 Gaming battery test, which is about par for the course and suggests that the system does not reduce its power consumption when operating on battery.
