In terms of inexpensive microphones, we believe it is fair to say that we have been spoiled over the past several years by the abundance of high-quality options available for less than $100. Every major microphone manufacturer has at least attempted to release a more affordable model. In an effort to get in on the action, NZXT has downsized their flagship Capsule mic down to a nice-looking mini-microphone.
The Capsule Mini is a little USB microphone that, for only $70, will improve the clarity of your speech significantly. The Capsule Mini is advantageous since it produces high-quality audio at a low price. It’s not surprising that, given its target audience, some features have been removed to keep prices low. Fortunately, high-quality audio recording is one area in which it does not fall short. The NZXT is the latest in a series of inexpensive mics that have exceeded my expectations.

NZXT Capsule Mini: Software

Because it is a plug-and-play microphone, there is no need to fuss with the settings in order to get it to sound the way you want it to. For live output, there is a single 3.5mm headphone port, and the NZXT CAM software will automatically recognize the microphone, allowing you to experiment with a few different configurations. If you’re not a fan of CAM, you shouldn’t be too concerned about using alternative software because it should work just fine. Given the compact nature of the microphone, it would have been helpful for NZXT to add a tiny carrying pouch alongside the product. This would have made transporting the microphone much simpler. NZXT Capsule Mini: Sound Quality
comparison of the sound produced by the Capsule Mini to that produced by the larger microphone. The way it sounds somewhere in the middle appeals to us. To me, it sounds more like a radio transmission that has been lightly adjusted and compressed, and the larger Capsule seems harsher on the high end than the smaller one does. Watch the video to learn about the differences between the SoloCast and the Capsule, Capsule Mini, and SoloCast.
It is important to keep in mind that the microphone stand will always take up any impact noise when using a condenser microphone that is placed on a desk. This was a significant issue with the SoloCast, but in most cases, the problem can be remedied by adding a boom arm. This particular little condenser microphone is my top pick. The NZXT Capsule, the NZXT Capsule Mini, and the HyperX Solocast are all equally qualified for this honour.
Pricing and Availability

The NZXT Capsule Mini can be purchased today for $60 from NZXT and a number of stores like Amazon and Best Buy. Don’t let the low price deceive you; this option offers high-quality audio recording at a reasonable price. It is an impressive feat that the NZXT Capsule Mini sounds virtually identical to other, more costly mics.
Final words
The NZXT Capsule Mini is a high-quality miniature gaming microphone. In a compact form factor that won’t take up much room on your workstation, you can capture high-quality audio. However, there are other USB mics that can accomplish the same tasks. The NZXT Capsule small is a small USB gaming microphone, but at $70, it’s not worth recommending over the numerous other options available.
