In 2021, Razer will make four new slimline RGB-powered V3 series headsets. The Razer Kraken V3 will be the second of these. Even though the name is a little confusing, the Razer Kraken V3 X is an improved version of the basic model. So, the V3 has better Hybrid Fabric and Leatherette Memory Foam ear cushions, Razer TriForce Titanium 50mm Drivers instead of the V3 X’s 40mm, and of course, THX Spatial Audio instead of 7.1 Surround Sound.
With its sleek design, the Razer Kraken V3 offers a lot of comforts and, thanks to software updates, can sometimes produce great sound. All of these things can be yours for less than $100. Even though this cheap headset has a lot of bells and whistles, it doesn’t have any options for quality of life or compatibility, which becomes clear after a while.
Razer Kraken V3 Review: Design

The Razer Kraken V3 only comes in “Black,” which is the only colour choice. The label for our model can be seen here. The company also sells these headphones as part of its Kraken V3 line. This range has four headphones that light up in different colors and have virtual surround sound. The lower-end Razer Kraken V3 X is less complicated and feels more like plastic, but it doesn’t have as many ways to customise it.
The Razer Kraken V3 HyperSense are a step up from the Razer Kraken V3, and they use the company’s HyperSense haptic technology to give vibrations for a more sensual gaming experience. Razer came up with this technology. Last but not least, the Razer Kraken V3 Pro Wireless are high-end gaming headphones with HyperSense technology and a wireless design. In addition to that, they support analog connections. You can buy these headphones from its official website.
Razer Kraken V3 Review: Comfort
The Razer Kraken V3 HyperSense gaming headset would be a great addition to any PC gamer’s setup because it has great sound quality, a crystal-clear microphone pickup, a comfortable fit, and a unique Razer design. It’s a great accessory because of these things. But you’ll need to think about whether the haptic response is good enough to justify the extra 30% cost.
Since this is a gaming headset, the quality of the sound is the most important thing that could make people want to buy it. In this way, the Kraken V3 HyperSense goes above and beyond, but it’s still not quite up to the standards of a professional headset.
Razer Kraken V3 Review: Connectivity

The Kraken V3 Pro works best for wireless communication when it is used with a personal computer. With the help of the Razer Synapse programme, you can turn on THX Spatial Audio, which is just one of many features you can use. It also lets you change some settings to suit your needs.
The USB transmitter also works with docked versions of the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the Nintendo Switch. The 3.5mm wired connection works with anything that has a port for headphones or a headset. This includes the Xbox Wireless Controller when it is connected to an Xbox and the Nintendo Switch when it is in handheld mode. The headset can’t be used to talk over Bluetooth.
Razer Kraken V3 Review: Noise cancelling
The Razer Kraken V3 is better than average at blocking out noise, but it’s not as good as a noise-cancelling headset like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. Our isolation chart shows that you can hear a loud truck outside your house because the headset can transmit lower frequencies. However, it does a good job of blocking out higher frequencies. If the headset fits right, anything above 1 kHz will only sound 1/4 to 1/16 as loud as it would without it.
Razer Kraken V3 Review: Audio performance
As I’ve said before, the V3 really shines when it comes to the Synapse software. The V3 has the following tabs: Enhancements for audio settings, Mic for microphone settings, Lighting for tuning RGB colours, a general Sound section for assigning sound properties, a Mixer for setting THX Spatial settings for specific apps, a tab for testing the calibrations of the headset’s Game, Music, and Movie Mode presets, and a tab for testing the calibrations of the V2’s Sound.
But since you have to download 7.1 Surround Sound software from the Razer Kraken V3 X’s website, I wasn’t sure which software I was supposed to install right away. But you need a code to activate it before you can use it. I spent a lot more time than I want to admit looking for an invalid activation code before I realised that it was only needed for the worse V3 product.
Razer Kraken V3 Review: Battery and charging
With the Razer Synapse software, the headset can make a lot of different sounds. You can change the RGB lighting, set the amount of mic sidetone, and change the equalisation settings (for music, game, and other modes). Razer says that the battery can last between 11 and 44 hours, depending on the brightness and haptics.
The mic itself is clear and does a great job of cutting out background noise. Expect a few dozen hours, even if we didn’t get to 44 in our tests, because we played around with lighting and haptics all the time.
Razer Kraken V3 Review: Final words
In general, the sound quality of the Razer Kraken V3 is good. They come with a warm sound profile that gives your mixes an impressive boom. The good news is that the app that goes with them has a graphic equalizer and presets that will let you change the sound of the headphones to fit your tastes better.
Unfortunately, the bass and treble aren’t always consistent, so each time you wear them, you may need to change how they fit, seal, and sit on your head to get the best sound quality.
