The Redmi Watch 2 Lite is a cheap smartwatch that looks like it will be able to do more than its low price suggests. The Xiaomi-owned company released the first Redmi Watch in the first half of 2021. Just a few months later, Xiaomi released the Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite, which looks a lot like the Redmi Watch. We reviewed it earlier this year. The Watch 2 looks like a square smartwatch and works with both iPhones and Android phones.
It has a colour display, continuous heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, built-in GPS, fitness tracking 24/7, and a battery life of more than a week. It costs a very reasonable £59.99 in the UK, but we don’t know yet how much it will cost or when it will be available in the US. This puts it in the same price range as smartwatches like the TicWatch GTH and the Amazfit Bip U Pro, which won the 2021 Wearable Tech Award for Best Affordable Smartwatch.

Redmi Watch 2 Lite review: Design, Build, And Comfort

The Redmi Watch 2 Lite is a basic smartwatch that comes in a square form factor and is made entirely of plastic. It has a square face like the Xiaomi Watch Lite and a touchscreen that looks and feels very similar at first glance. Black, ivory, and blue versions of the 41mm polycarbonate case are available.
Belt straps are hypoallergenic thermoplastic polyurethane. It has a silky texture and is available in several different hues, including black and blue (known as Blue Dragon and Midnight Black, respectively). The strap may be taken off whenever necessary and is designed to be worn during any activity, day or night. You can buy this smartwatch from its official website.
Redmi Watch 2 Lite review: Display
The screen on the Redmi Watch 2 Lite is a large 1.55-inch LCD colour touch screen with 320360 pixels and up to 450 nits of brightness. It is made of 2D glass. You can set it to turn on when you raise your hand. To save power, the screen turns off after a few seconds, but you can set it to stay off for up to 10 seconds. It still shows fingerprints and isn’t totally scratch-proof. It’s easy to use the touch screen.
With 450 nits of peak brightness, it is easy to see outside. The brightness can be changed by going to more > Settings > Brightness. The Redmi Watch and the Redmi Smart Band Pro both had an ambient light sensor, but this one doesn’t. Instead, you have to adjust it manually from level 1 to level 5 in the settings.
Redmi Watch 2 Lite review: Software

The Xiaomi Wear or Mi Fitness App, both of which are available for iOS and Android, are needed to pair the Watch with a smartphone. The software is intuitive and highly refined. All the information the watch has gathered, such as steps, calories burned, sleep patterns, the most recent workout statistics, heart rate, and more, is displayed in the companion app.
The software has the required watch settings and choices to swap watch faces. There are a few familiar local faces, and the internet provides access to a library of more than a hundred alternative timepiece faces. The watch face can be changed to one of your own choosing.
Redmi Watch 2 Lite review: battery
The Redmi Watch 2 Lite has a 262mAh battery, which Redmi says can last for up to 10 days of typical use. Redmi defines typical use as measuring your heart rate every 30 minutes, turning off advanced sleep monitoring and stress monitoring all day, and only using the GPS for 35 minutes a week. When used more often, the Watch 2 Lite can last up to 5 days. Our testing time was definitely on the long side, so we think those battery claims are true.
Redmi Watch 2 Lite review: Price
If you’ve used a smartwatch before, you’ll notice that the Redmi Watch 2 Lite doesn’t have some Wear OS features, like the ability to take photos or answer calls. But the Watch 2 Lite makes up for it with a great price and a lot of ways to track your activities indoors and outdoors.
Final Words
Do you want to buy a wristwatch but you’re not sure if the newest Apple Watch is worth it? Some of the capabilities that a high-priced smartwatch provides may not be necessary for you if you are not a regular user of similar devices. A low-cost smartwatch, such as the Redmi Watch 2 Lite, is a good place to start if you’re not sure whether you need a more advanced device or simply want one to fit in with the rest of society.
