The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus is rumored to be the last Plus entry in Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series. While we won’t know for sure if that prediction is accurate until the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24, it’s not hard to understand why the mobile industry giant may be preparing to implement such a significant strategy shift. The Galaxy S24 is expected to feature a curved display with a resolution of 1440 x 3040 pixels.
These middle-child devices, which date all the way back to 2020 and the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus, have been forced to make concessions on super-premium features in order to keep costs reasonable. They were marketed as appealing options for consumers who want Galaxy Ultra sizing without the top-shelf price tag. However, this strategy has not always resulted in good value for the money spent.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus review: Design and Display

Samsung didn’t make too many changes to the look of the Galaxy S23 phones, but the few changes they did make took them a step or two away from the rest of the Galaxy brand. For the 6.6-inch Galaxy S23 Plus, this means that the famous Contour Cut steel around the camera array has to be taken off. Now, all three lenses float near the top left corner of the phone’s back, which is made of brushed glass Gorilla Victus 2. The screen is also made of shiny Victus 2 glass. It has a very clean look, and this might be my favorite Galaxy phone style ever.
The 6.6-inch, 2316 x 1080-pixel screen on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus is big, bright, and easy to use. Adaptive refresh rate is a choice that tunes the screen to what you’re doing, down to 48Hz, to save power. In my experience, this still made scrolling incredibly smooth, and even scenes with a lot of movement in high-resolution YouTube videos looked silky. The phone still has 240Hz touch-sampling, which lets games respond quickly. You can buy this phone from its official website
Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus: Camera
The Galaxy S23 Ultra has an exciting 200MP main camera and a lot of new features. The Galaxy S23 Plus camera, on the other hand, hasn’t changed much. The Galaxy S23 Plus comes with a 50MP wide-angle main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP 3X optical telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture that can zoom up to 30X.
There are a lot more changes on the front, where Samsung has added a new 12MP selfie camera with dual phase-detection autofocus that should keep all of your selfies sharp even in low light.
Performance and Software

Samsung’s own One UI 5.1 interface runs on top of Android 13 on the Galaxy S23 Plus. In our review of One UI 5, we called it the “perfect software update” because it improved the general functionality and performance of Samsung’s One UI. It did this by combining customization options with improved performance and a smoother system as a whole. And, for all intents and purposes, One UI 5.1 is just a small software update that fixes some bugs and makes the interface look better.
The software on the S23 Plus is very similar to what’s on other Samsung phones, so existing Samsung fans shouldn’t see any red flags when it comes to the user experience. Still, Samsung has added a number of new software features, such as co-creation in Samsung Notes, co-watching in Google Meet, and better security features.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus: Battery life
At the end of our energy test, the Galaxy S23 Plus had 67% battery life left, the same as the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The Galaxy S23 Plus did a little better on the battery test than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, even though it has a slightly smaller screen at 6.6 inches instead of 6.7 inches and is bigger all around. Still, the iPhone 14 Plus with a 73% score is still on top.
Price & Availability
The Pixel 7 Pro usually costs $900, but its price was recently cut to $750, which is a lot less than the S23 Plus’s list price of $1,000. But if you had planned to spend $1,000 on a phone, I still think you should get the S23 Plus. And for a short time, Amazon and Best Buy are selling the S23 Plus for $850, which is $150 less than what it normally costs.
Final Words
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus is an excellent smartphone that fulfills several requirements. It has a camera that is adaptable to a variety of situations and has a long battery life. Although it’s possible that this won’t be the most interesting phone released in 2023, it’s still a good option to have on hand.
