It looks great, its screen is fantastic and its price is easy to swallow. Samsung could finally have made an Android tablet that is worth buying.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e – Introduction
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is an elegant and extremely lightweight mid-range Android tablet. After about four months of waiting, Samsung finally launched it in India last week. Last year, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Tab S4, which was by far one for the Best tablets at the time, as it offered uncompromising first-rate specifications.
This tablet has made decent sales, but a wide range of consumers has been put off by its price tag located north of the Rs 50,000 mark. Although consumers have no problem buying smartphones with labels Exorbitant prices, the purchase of an expensive tablet is a disadvantage for the general public. To remedy this problem, Samsung has launched the successor of the Galaxy Tab S4: the Galaxy Tab S5e, a tablet with flagship specifications without the flagship price tag.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e – Design
It is the thinnest (5.5mm) and lightest (400g) tablet ever made by Samsung. It is incredibly portable and comfortable to live. You can throw it in your bag, and you will hardly notice it is the re. As it is so lightweight, you can easily watch your favorite shows or play games for hours without any noticeable discomfort.
The solid metal body is top quality and well done, although there is no glass in the back like the Galaxy Tab S4. There is a power button with a built-in fingerprint sensor on the right side, below which you’ll find the volume rocker button and the microSD slot. The frame of the tab gently curves into the power button so you can easily find it when you put your finger on it.
The USB type-C port is at the bottom, while the POGO pins are on the left. You may be wondering why we did not mention the 3.5mm headphone jack. Well, the Galaxy Tab S5e does not have one. You get an adapter in the box to use wired headphones via the USB-C port.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e – Display
The Galaxy Tab S5e’s Super AMOLED WQXGA (2560 × 1600) screen of 10.5 inches with a 16:10 aspect ratio is something to listen to. This is the same screen that you get on the Galaxy Tab S4. The glasses are pretty and thin because there are no physical buttons and navigation. Samsung has The Best OLED screens on the market and spared no effort for the Galaxy Tab S5e.
The screen/body ratio of 81.8% is an improvement over the 79% ratio of the Galaxy Tab S4. The 16:10 widescreen format is ideal for content consumption and job execution. The screen is vibrant, with excellent color reproduction. It becomes beautiful and bright, so you will have no problem using the tablet in full sun. You will certainly not complain about the display unless you are a fan of the S Pen, as this is not supported here.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e – Battery
In a tablet as thin as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e, it’s impressive how Samsung has managed to insert a 7,040 mAh battery. It gave me about 6 to 7 hours of screen time and made it easy for me to get through a day’s work. Used from time to time, it can easily last two days or more. Charging speeds are suitable (for a tablet), with Samsung offering a 14W fast charger in the box.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e – Camera
Most of us today would not need a tablet to click on a photo, but I’ve tried a few. The Tab S5e features a 13 MP camera on the back and an 8 MP camera on the front for selfie. The results obtained using the primary camera were not far from what I expected but were somewhat usable for social media.
The video was a little jerky; I shoot in FHD (30 fps) or 4K (30 fps). Theselfie camera featured a decent HDR shot, preventing the background from being overexposed. The camera is also able to take Portrait photos with excellent bokeh, but with medium edge detection.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e – Software
The S5e tablet runs on Android 9.0 with Samsung’s first user interface. It’s fast, responsive, and easy to use for all age profiles. What I do not personally like is the choice of icon packs, but the rest looks good. Transitions and animations makes a massive difference in how fast the user interface feels compared to the old Samsung user interface.
The main interface is similar to the one we saw on the new Samsung Galaxy phones. In this case, the key differentiator is the Dex mode, which allows a desktop-like experience for better productivity. You can switch to Dex mode from the Quick Action menu in the notification bar.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e – Performance
Comes with Snapdragon 670 chipset and 4GB of RAM in the heart, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is relatively well equipped to offer a stable Android experience. Keeping this in mind, we insisted on pushing him to multitask and playing. We had several PUBG sessions with the device, and it’s a better tab than the Galaxy Tab S4 to play games.
Although performance is compatible, the form factor here plays a crucial role in making it a better tablet for games. He efficiently manages the PUBG Mobile team’s quick deathmatch while keeping the graphics at an average level. Multitasking is pretty fluid on the S5e tab; it can handle everything you would practically do on one tablet at a time. However, note that performance degrades after a certain amount of time and that when switching, opening and closing applications may have a lag after a few months of use.
It’s fast, but it lacks the smoothness of the Tab S4 or its iPad rivals. It comes with 64GB of internal storage. But Samsung knows that consumers are obsessed with external cards (especially in India). As a result, microSD card support can reach 512 GB, making it even better for movie/series collectors.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e – Keyboard
Samsung also sells you a 7999 Rupee book cover keyboard, priced at Rs 3500 during the introductory offer. The Tab S5e connects to the console via the POGO connection and starts the Dex mode as soon as it is clicked. No matter the size of your laptop’s keyboard, the Samsung keyboard looks cramped, and it takes a long time to learn quickly. The keys are not backlit, and the tactile feedback leaves much to be desired, especially for an accessory costing 8K.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e – Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is in an almost unique position. The Apple iPad at this price range is a two-year-old offer. Software and design are the only areas in which the iPad excels. Everything else feels better on the S5e tab. Its streamlined format, breathtaking display, and exceptional sound make it a must-have tablet for those looking for a multimedia device on the go. Additional capabilities such as expandable memory and good battery life make the purchase even more compelling.
