The Find N2 Flip is the first folding flip phone from Oppo to be sold outside of China. It is an Android clamshell that is directly aimed at Samsung’s famous Z Flip 4. The next-generation flip phone costs £849, which is £50 less than Samsung’s. It uses a different type of hinge that aims to fix the crease in the middle of the screen, which is one of the most obvious problems with folding phones. The phone is made of metal and glass and has a bright 6.8-inch screen that looks like a normal phone when it is open.
The cover screen on Samsung’s new flip phone, which goes on sale this Friday, is now bigger and takes up almost the whole front of the device when the phone is closed. This may not seem like much, but it makes the Z Flip a lot more useful without having to open it. Foldable phones used to seem like a fix to a problem that didn’t exist. That may still be true, but being able to send messages, take pictures, and reply to notifications on a device that fits in the palm of my hand adds a level of convenience that’s hard to understand unless you’ve tried it.

Oppo Find N2 Flip vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Design
When folded up, the Oppo Find N2 is not like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in that it is tall and thin. Instead, it is bigger and shorter. It has a more typical shape, but when folded up, it’s still as thick as holding two phones together, so it’s still “compromised” compared to a phone that doesn’t fold. But is it really a middle ground? No, and it’s all because the front screen is better. It’s a 5.54-inch AMOLED with thin borders and an ergonomically curved corner that fits nicely in your palm (if you’re right-handed). This makes it very easy to use when closed.
A redesigned hinge allows the Flip 5 to close with zero gap, yet from afar, it looks like the previous generation device because to its size and appearance.
Still, we shouldn’t judge by appearance. Samsung changed the hinge to a teardrop shape that other manufacturers have been employing, creating this no-gap design. The Flip 5 feels substantial and solid, unlike rival flip phones like Oppo and Motorola, which wobble.
Oppo Find N2 Flip vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Display
Oppo’s main goal with its displays is to get rid of the trade-offs that often come with folding clamshell smartphones. The display on its cover is, in effect, a small smartphone display. What we mean by this is that the screen is a vertically oriented square with a ratio that is almost the same as a regular smartphone. The idea is to give you a screen that is easier to use and lets you read more lines of text. This means that it can hold more data than Samsung’s Z Flip 4 or Huawei’s P50 Pocket. It’s a great way to check notifications because it puts them all in a list, and if you tap on a message, you can read the whole thing right there on the cover screen, as long as it’s not too long.
The front screen is 3.4 inches, which is smaller than the Motorola Razr Plus’s 3.6-inch screen but much bigger than Samsung’s previous 1.9-inch display. It’s interesting that it only runs at 60Hz, while the one on the competition Razr has a high refresh rate.
On this screen, you can now do a lot more, but not everything. Samsung has made a number of widgets for it, and there is a separate option that lets you run a few important apps. However, right now, you only have Google Maps, YouTube, Netflix, and your basic messaging apps to choose from.
Oppo Find N2 Flip vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Camera
On the rear of the Find N2 are three cameras: a main camera with a resolution of 50 megapixels and optical image stabilization; a wide-angle camera with a resolution of 48 megapixels; and a telephoto camera with a resolution of 32 megapixels and a 2x optical zoom. Additionally, it has a pair of 32-megapixel front-facing cameras, one of which is located on the cover screen and the other of which is located in a hole-punch cutout on the main screen. The performance of the camera has been fine-tuned thanks to Hasselblad and Oppo’s collaboration.
The Flip 5 has two 12-megapixel cameras on the outside next to the cover screen and a 10-megapixel selfie camera at the top of the inside screen. Both of the main cams are good, but since last year, not much has changed. They are a little bit clearer, and their night photos are a little bit better. That means they usually take good photos and decent videos and have a few fun tricks in the camera app, but they aren’t really great because they don’t have an optical zoom.
Oppo Find N2 Flip vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Performance
The Find N2 Flip doesn’t lag when you scroll through your TikTok feed, YouTube videos open right away, downloading and starting apps is fast, and it just feels smooth to use. This is because the screen refreshes quickly, up to 120Hz. You can set this to 60Hz to save battery, but since we haven’t heard any complaints about how long the battery lasts, we left it on the top setting. Biometric protection is also fast and reliable. Face recognition works well even when it’s dark, and the fingerprint reader in the power button works fine. You can also set up a routine to unlock your phone, or you can use a number password.
It is getting to the point where smaller foldable phones are very much as quick as their counterparts that are not flexible, which gets them ever so slightly closer to being realistic as popular products. The Flip 5 is on par with other flagship devices, like as the Galaxy S23+, because it is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset. It also has the same amount of RAM, which is 8 gigabytes, and the base storage on this year’s Flip is double what it was on the previous model, starting at 256 gigabytes.
Oppo Find N2 Flip vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: Battery Life
The Motorola Razr 2022, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Huawei P50 Pocket all have batteries with capacities of 3,500mAh, 3,700mAh, and 4,000mAh, respectively. The Oppo, on the other hand, has a huge 4,300mAh cell that beats the Z Flip 4 when it comes to real-world screen-on time (6.5 hours vs. 4 hours), which is the same as the current Razr, which is also a clamshell folding phone. The same is true for charging speeds, as the Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei can be cable charged at 25W, 30W, and 40W, respectively. The Find N2 Flip is the most powerful at 44W.
This is definitely flagship-level performance, so if you choose a Flip over a regular phone, you’re not giving up much. But battery life is one place where foldables tend to fall short. The Flip 5 ran about as long as its predecessor, which isn’t surprising since it has the same 3,700mAh battery. It does have a bigger screen on the outside, but because the Flex Window is more useful, I didn’t have to open the Flip 5 as often as I did with the older model. So it makes sense that both Flips could keep going for about the same amount of time.
Which one should you consider?
Two of the most impressive foldable smartphones on the market are the Oppo Find N2 Flip and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. They are both quite stylish, with a huge display on the inside and a more compact display on the cover. On the other hand, there are some significant distinctions between them that can make one of them a better option for you than the other.
Oppo Find N2 Flip: The good and The bad
It has a small footprint, is aesthetically pleasing, operates quickly, can be refilled in a flash, and appears to be very hip. That was certainly a deliberate play on words.
The Good
- It folds in half
- Speedy fast charging
The Bad
- Middling battery life
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: The good and The bad
The crease and the previously mentioned odd aspect ratio are the two major flaws in it that need to be addressed first.
The Good
- More spacious cover screen
- Powered by a custom chip
The Bad
- Less versatile camera system
Questions and Answers
Compared to the Galaxy Z Flip series, the Samsung Fold series has more pro-level cameras. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold5 has an amazing three-lens back camera with a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide lens, and a 10 MP zoom lens.
When it’s folded up, it’s about half the size of a normal smartphone, but it has a lot of power that fits in your pocket. The Galaxy Z Flip5 is both stylish and durable. It has an armor aluminum frame, a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 screen, and an IPX8 rating for water protection.
