It’s a new generation of consoles, and that means new headsets. Granted, most people won’t be able to get their own PlayStation 5 or Xbox X Series X/S for a long time, but that hasn’t stopped companies from flooding the market with shiny new updated accessories for them. The Razer Kaira Pro is Razer’s new audio offering for the Xbox X Series, and it offers a pretty decent set of handy features.

The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 is a well-made gaming headset that joins a growing number of products that feel a little thin at launch due to compatibility with something that hasn’t even come out yet. However, if you just want something at a reasonable price with good battery life, you won’t be disappointed.

Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 vs Razer Kaira Pro: Design & Features

The Kaira Pro’s hard-edged top band and swivel forks are plastic, but the headset appears durable and well-built. The internal frame is also hard plastic, reinforced with a thin sheet of etched aluminum to indicate adjustable riser sizes. The black plastic highlights the Razer green accents: thin strips of green leather line the base of the headset’s padding, and the padded center of the top band is covered in green mesh. There’s also a pair of Razer RGB logos on the back of the headset, in case you want more and/or a different color.
In a world of garish colors, RGB light strips and ostensibly “gamer” design, the cool, understated black of the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 is a breath of fresh, elegant air. Black and silver is always elegant (and goes perfectly with the Xbox X Series and its accessories), and the large, soft ear cushions provide smooth textures that bring it all together. You can buy this headphone from its official website
Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 vs Razer Kaira Pro: Software
On Xbox consoles, you can customize the Kaira Pro’s audio features and RGB lighting using the Razer Headset Setup for Xbox app (you can also download this app on PC via the Microsoft Store). The app gives you access to a relatively substantial amount of audio customization, including EQ levels for the speakers and cardioid microphone. You also have access to a limited number of RGB lighting customization options, though it’s not as well-developed as the Razer Chroma suite for computer peripherals.
Turtle Beach offers a companion software application through mobile devices, called Audio Hub, and the Stealth 700 Gen 2s are compatible with it. It’s a basic app, which can be a good thing, depending on how you feel about this type of software. The desktop version only supports firmware updates for the headphones, so you’ll need the mobile version if you want access to a handful of EQ presets, the superhuman listening setting, and the option to remap a couple of controls.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 vs Razer Kaira Pro: Performance

The Razer Kaira Pro with several games on the Xbox X Series and Xbox Series S, and the first thing we can confirm is that it works well with both systems. The second thing I can confirm is that it sounds great, regardless of genre. We especially liked how it handled Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, balancing crackling gunfire with urgent, screaming dialogue.
The Stealth 700 Gen 2 houses 50 mm nano clear neodymium drivers, so the headset performs at its best in complex, more bass-focused environments and games. So FPS enthusiasts and shooter lovers will enjoy more bass-focused sound to the fullest. If things start to get really hectic – we’re looking at MMO gamers – the headset may have trouble conveying things in a way that’s easy to parse.
Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 vs Razer Kaira Pro: Battery life
Bluetooth works well, however, as does the Xbox’s built-in wireless function. Pairing is effortless (just press one button on the Xbox and one on the Kaira Pro), and battery life is acceptable: 15 hours with the headset lights on and up to 20 without. The microphone is also what you’d expect from a mid-range gaming headset: a bit quiet on pickup, but clear enough for everyday conversations.
Along with the headset’s convenient configuration, battery life puts older wireless models to shame. Stealth 700 Gen 2 should last 20 hours on a single charge, although we’ve managed to get more out of it on occasion (for example, when gaming without voice chat). This doubles the battery life of the first-generation headset, and it charges via USB-C, so it’s also compatible with most modern accessories.
Which one should you buy?
Choosing between the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 and the Razer Kaira Pro depends on your personal preferences and gaming needs. The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 offers better sound quality and longer battery life, while the Razer Kaira Pro has a more comfortable fit and better microphone quality. Both headsets have their own unique features, such as Bluetooth connectivity on the Kaira Pro and superhuman hearing on the Stealth 700 Gen 2. Consider your priorities in terms of sound quality, comfort, microphone quality and features to decide which is the best choice for you.
